FOL Concert: Handler & Levesque

JOY TO THE WORLD: Holiday Music for Classical Guitar & Mandolin, Presented by Handler & Levesque

Enchanting instrumental renditions of traditional and contemporary holiday music. A variety of lively tunes and lyrical melodies with an international flavor.

Audiences will enjoy the charming sound of the classical guitar & mandolin as Judy & Mark play their own arrangements of beautiful holiday music from many cultures.  Judy & Mark offer interesting commentary about the origins of holiday music from the U.S., England, Ireland, Wales, Germany, Russia, Puerto Rico, and songs of Hanukah. The audience will have a chance to join in at the end of the program on some rhythm instruments!

Judy & Mark have given over 2,000 concerts together throughout the United States & Europe. They performed in the United Kingdom in May 2018. In the summer of 2016 they performed in Porto, Portugal and at the 45th Festival Internacional de Plectro de La Rioja, Spain. Other performances include Eurofest 2014 in Bruchsal, Germany, The English Church in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, The Classical Mandolin Society of America’s Convention 2014 in Portland, Oregon, The Caramoor Center for Music & Arts, Autorino Hall at the Bushnell Performing Arts Center in Hartford, The Jewish Museum in New York, Troy Music Hall, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Second Saturday Coffeehouse in Chicago, The Connecticut Guitar Society, First Night Westport, and Music Mountain. They are on the roster of Cantaloupe Music Productions in Manhattan, New England Foundation for the Arts, the Connecticut Office of the Arts and the Connecticut Library Consortium. Judy and Mark are founding members of the New American Mandolin Ensemble which formed in 2013 and Judy is Founder of the Connecticut Guitar Society.

Their CDs Passion, Acoustic Blend & Two Guitars Live! have received critical acclaim and have been sold in dozens of countries throughout the world.  All three CDs have been used by the Greater Hartford Arts Council as gifts to 1,000’s of donors to their United Arts Campaign.  Judy & Mark have been featured on numerous compilation CDs with other artists and many radio & cable T.V. programs. They run a studio for private lessons and groups in Vernon, CT.
