Syracuse Stage Presents: Push, Pull, Together, Apart
10:15 AM - 11:15 AM

Fairmount Library has invited Syracuse Stage performers to put on a special show for toddlers on Thursday, April 11th from 10:30am- 11:00am.  Please arrive at 10:15am sharp to be ready for this dynamic show.  For ages 6 months - 5 years. Push, Pull, Together, Apart - THEATRE FOR THE VERY YOUNG 

Specifically designed for our youngest audiences and their families, Push, Pull, Together, Apart is about connection. How many different ways are we connected with each other and the world around us? In this participatory experience, young audience members will join in exploring the different ways in which brand new eyes find connection in the spontaneous.  This 30 minute non-verbal performance will involve interactive sounds, props, and storytelling. 

Co-Production between Syracuse Stage and Syracuse University Department of Drama

 

Registration will open on March 20th. Registration is required. Space is limited.

Quilling for Beginners
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Join us for a lovely afternoon of beginner quilling.   Paper quilling is a popular craft where strips of paper are fixed together to create cards, designs, or pieces of art.... "Paper Twirling.

Library will provide all supplies; if you have supplies, feel free to bring them as well.  Learn something new!

Pokemon Club
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Come to FCL for a fun evening of Pokemon related games and activities with friends.  Our April meetup we will play POKEMON BINGO and kids can win PRIZES.  Advanced registration is required.  Bring your card collection if you'd like to trade cards at the end of the program.  *The library is not responsible for any trades made by participants. Please leave valuable cards at home and only bring cards that you are comfortable showing, sharing, trading.*

Camillus Playgroup

Join FCL Friends at the Camillus Town Hall gym for fun preschool play.  We have slides, bikes, balls and toys for active play during the colder weather months. Bring your 1-5 year old for free play and make new friends. Thank you to the Town Supervisor' s office for continued support of this program!  Please register.  This playgroup is not in session during West Genesee school breaks and snow days. 

The Camillus Town Hall gym is located 4600 W Genesee St Ste 114, Syracuse, NY 13219.

Toddler Sensory Play Time
10:15 AM - 11:00 AM

Toddlers and a caregiver can come to the library to rotate through play stations designed to enhance their early literacy skills and fine & gross motor skills.  We will have spring sensory bins, painting, tracing, stepping stones, lacing, and montessori style puzzles.  Watch your child learn through enhanced play.  Be sure to check out favorite stories before you leave! Registration required.

Spring Flower Planting

FCL Nature Explorers

FCL has once again partnered with students from SUNY ESF's amazing group, SEEC (SEEC is a club at ESF for students interested in environmental education and community engagement) to offer NATURE EXPLORERS on Sundays throughout the fall / winter and spring months.  Are you eager to experience high quality educational family experiences and your only free day is Sunday? Join us for this outdoor program at Shove Park and explore the forest, the trees, and nature all around us.  Topics have included: leaf identification, maple syrup, nature jounaling, and more!

Theme: BUGS!

Please dress for the weather; bring your rain jackets, boots or even your snow pants and join us for nature exploration.  This is for all ages but ideal for families with children ages 4-12. Registration is recommended.

Help Me Grow Onondaga: Books, Balls and Blocks

Join us for Books, Balls and Blocks at FCL hosted by Help Me Grow Onondaga!

*Registration opens on March 20th at 9am*

Join Help Me Grow (HMG) Onondaga for a fun and interactive parent event focused on early childhood development for children aged birth - 5 years. Parents attending this event will be able to witness and learn how to recreate activity stations at home using everyday items to promote child development. HMG encourages parents to complete the Ages and Stages questionnaire [linked here] to provide valuable insight into your child's current development and highlight any areas that may require additional attention. All parents who complete the questionnaire will receive a tote bag filled with age-appropriate toys and activities to help support child development at home.

Magical Musical Morning

Learn About Marine Biology

Does your child LOVE the ocean as well as sharks, whales and all of the wonders of the sea?  Join us for a fun program over spring break all about what life is like as a marine biologist.  Hear from Hannah Jasinski, FCL staff member and REAL LIFE marine biologist, about exploring the ocean in different parts of the world.  She will bring photos, videos and a hands-on activity about her explorations.

April Recipe in a Jar

Join us for once again for our Recipe in a Jar series! This month we have Spring themed brownies.  Take one home and make the recipe and then share it with family and friends. Share pictures with us by emailing them to fclcoordinator@gmail.com.  Miss Karen makes a video each month of her recipe on the library Instagram account.  This is just one way we want to connect with our patrons and community through the long winter months. Space is limited, registration is required. 

Registration will open Monday April 22 at 7 pm, and patrons who have registered can come in to pick up their jars anytime Tuesday April 23rd through April 27th. Please pick up your jars by 2 pm on the 27th or your jar will be offered to someone on the waitlist.

FCL Spring Book Sale

Fairmount Library will hold a book sale from April 29th to May 11th.  Half price sale is Friday May 10th and Saturday, May 11th. All proceeds benefit the library operating budget. 

We will be accepting newer gently used books for the sale and those can be dropped off at the library beginning March 1st up through the dates of the sale. Thank you so much for your support.
