Storytime with Local Illustrator Havilah Racette

Join North Reading resident and picture book illustrator Havilah Racette for this special storytime. Ms. Racette recently published Pete the Hungry Pig with author Sue Wambolt.

In the east of Kentucky is a small rural farm with animals and gardens and quaint country charm. The newest animal in the barn is a pig named Pete who wants nothing more than to eat and to eat!

It started with his feed bag but then he kept going. Every day Pete’s appetite kept growing and growing! If he can’t stop eating, what will happen to the farm? Could a hungry little pig really do that much harm?

Cinematic Conversations -- Movie Night - Midsommar (2019)
NORCAM hosts a new & free screening series with the Flint Memorial Library called Cinematic Conversations!

Every month, usually on the third Tuesday at 7pm, we are showing a new movie presented by a Boston-area critic who will then lead a post screening discussion.

For October, we have the amazingly talented Boston-area filmmaker Andrea Wolanin!

Come on down to the Flint Memorial Library on Tuesday night, October 29th at 7:45pm to watch Ari Aster's summer cult-hit 'Midsommar'. Description below:

Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.
