Announcement: All Library Programs Canceled

Announcement: All public programs at the Fall River Public Library (Main and South Branch) are canceled starting Thursday, March 12, until further notice as a health precaution.

Health officials in many cities and states, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended postponing or cancelling gatherings and community events where large numbers of people are within arm's length of one another. This measure may slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, which is transmitted through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. People are urged to maintain a “social distance” of at least 1 meter (3 feet) from others, which can be difficult at public events.

Therefore, to protect the health of everyone, and especially the most vulnerable members of our community, all public events at both branches of the Fall River Public Library are canceled beginning Monday, March 16, until further notice. This includes storytimes, crafts, teen programs, movies, special events, and all other library programs.

Please check our online calendar and Facebook page for updates. We hope to be able to reschedule our programs at a later date. Thank you for understanding.

Breaker Space - CANCELED

Fall River Public Library presents Breaker Space--a/k/a take-apart time, toy take-a-part, break & make, appliance autopsy, or deconstruction station! Join us for this free family program on the last Saturday of each month.

The library will provide patrons with toys, electronics, or appliances and let them carefully take things apart to see what makes them tick. We will provide the tools and protective gear. This program is growing in popularity as it is a great opportunity for kids to explore how common household items work and expose them to circuitry concepts. Kids as well as adults become familiar with an object’s components, so they can identify how items can be repaired and learn how to create new ones by harvesting parts.

Note: safety goggles must be worn. Parents are responsible for supervising children.

Thank you to Home Depot, Schwartz Hardware, and Rocky's Ace Hardware for donations of tools and safety goggles!
