TCOA Virtual Workshop: Chronic Pain PATH

Join facilitators from the Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA) for a virtual workshop for those facing the challenge of Chronic Pain 

Chronic Pain PATH (Personal Action Toward Health) is designed for individuals with chronic pain. In this virtual workshop, participants are taught effective tools to better self-manage their condition and its impact on their life. We address a variety of topics including fatigue management,dealing with difficult emotions, and pacing & planning. Includes the MovingEasy Program: safe exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance. This workshop is offered Tuesdays, August 18 – September 22, 2020 from 10:00 am – 12 noon. Open for you to join at any time during this series. The workshop is free of charge but donations are accepted. Suggested donation is $25 but it is not required. Meet at GLADL Tuesdays at 11 am and follow the little red wagon to the Trinity Episcopal Church playground for a family storytime filled with stories, songs, and activities! An outdoor, sunshiney, playdate summer story-time for children (and their caregivers) with summery activities. Open to children of all ages. We'll observe safe social distancing. Rain location: 1931 Room – Stories to be told rain or shine!

TCOA Virtual Workshop: Chronic Pain PATH

Join facilitators from the Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA) for a virtual workshop for those facing the challenge of Chronic Pain 

Chronic Pain PATH (Personal Action Toward Health) is designed for individuals with chronic pain. In this virtual workshop, participants are taught effective tools to better self-manage their condition and its impact on their life. We address a variety of topics including fatigue management,dealing with difficult emotions, and pacing & planning. Have you heard about the special 2020 display at the Grand Ledge Area Historical Society Museum, "Crazy About Quilts" ?

Come join us for a guided tour from Historical Society member Cindy Langenberg  as she shows us around and discusses some of the various quilted items on display. Cindy will share with us some information on quilting  and quilting types,history and cultural importance of quilting. The Show "Crazy About Quilts" is going on now.

If you're ready to get out and about, you can visit during the museum hours on Sundays from 2:00-4:00. The Grand Ledge Area Historical Society Museum is housed in the Pratt-Shearer Cottage at 118 W. Lincoln Street. This Gothic cottage was built in 1880 by Byron S. Pratt, a local minister. The Museum houses the Historical Societies collections and is home to specific themed displays.

Michigan is considered a battleground state in 2020, and there is no better time than right now to lift the voices of African-American women in Michigan to help create their own national and state agenda for this next election. “MI Sisters and Friends: Conversations that Count” will create a 2020-2024 health and wealth agenda for African-American women in Michigan who are aged 50 years or older. The agenda will be shared with elected officials (state and federal) and progress will be reviewed annually. This is a free event. Participants must RSVP.

Adult Acrylic Painting Workshop

Learn to paint with acrylics! Canvases, paint, and brushes will be supplied. Participants 18+ years are encouraged to bring aprons and/or clothing that can be soiled. Elect the President of Story Time: Primary Election

Kids have the power to choose!  Vote for your favorite storybook character to be the "President of Storytime"!

From Sept 22 thru Oct. 12, candidates from the "Classic Characters Party" and the "Modern Characters Party" compete in a Primary Election to narrow it down to one candidate from each. Kids can vote each time they come into the library!

Join facilitators from the Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA) for a Virtual Workshop for CaregiversPowerful Tools for Caregivers is an interactive workshop designed to help family caregivers take better care of themselves while caring for a family member or friend. Have some old-fashioned creative family fun with this GLADL Take Home Craft! Pick up your craft kit and then watch the video on our YouTube channel as we make this craft with you! We'll use cut apples and dip into paint for a fun creative fall activity, and enjoy stories about apples and fall too!

Elect the President of Story Time: Primary Election

Kids have the power to choose!  Vote for your favorite storybook character to be the "President of Storytime"!

From Sept 22 thru Oct. 12, candidates from the "Classic Characters Party" and the "Modern Characters Party" compete in a Primary Election to narrow it down to one candidate from each. Kids can vote each time they come into the library!

After the "Primary" on Oct. 12, for one character from the "Classic Characters Party" and one character from the "Modern Characters Party".   From Oct. 13-Nov. 3rd, the final two candidates go head to head as kids vote for one of the two characters to be the "President of Storytime".

Meet at GLADL Tuesdays at 11 am and follow the little red wagon to the Trinity Episcopal Church playground for a family storytime filled with stories, songs, and activities! An outdoor, sunshiney, playdate summer story-time for children (and their caregivers) with summery activities. Open to children of all ages. We'll observe safe social distancing. Rain location: 1931 Room – Stories to be told rain or shine!
