Forensic Art: Identifying the Living and the Dead.

Are you a fan of the Investigation Discovery channel and shows such as Forensic Files? How do police solve missing person cases? Join Michigan State Police Lieutenant Sarah Krebs to discuss her work as a forensic artist. Forensic art is any art that aids in the apprehension or conviction of a criminal offender or helps identify unknown deceased persons. Detective Krebs will explain how her evidence-based drawings and three-dimensional reconstructions aid in the investigation of unidentified remains, the apprehension of suspects, and the resolution of missing person cases.

Registration and an email address are required to receive the Zoom meeting ID and password. This information will be emailed to registrants.

Sarah is a graduate of Michigan State University’s Anthropology Program and has spent her nearly 20- year career with the Michigan State Police, most of which has been in investigations, heading the Missing Persons Unit. In 2010, Lt. Krebs founded “Missing in Michigan” a 501c (3) non-profit agency that liaisons with the families of missing persons, law enforcement and the media to bring Michigan’s Missing Persons home.

Tips for attending the presentation:

  • After a presentation, there will be time for Q&A.  Feel free to ask about their work and the forensic process!  You will be able to type this in the chat box or unmute and ask.
  • We ask that participants stay muted for the majority of the program so that everyone can hear the presentation.
  • If possible, please keep your camera on so that our presenter can see the participants.

The Joy of Birding: Backyard Birds & Habitat, presented by Lindsay Cain, Michigan Audubon Society

Come to this Virtual presentation and learn how to attract more birds to your backyard, types of seed, feeders and their care, places to go birding in our area, the excitement of a bird chase, and stories from the field while birding.

Birding has certainly increased in popularity over the past year!  Spring and early summer is a great time to enjoy migrating and nesting birds in Michigan. Join Michigan Audubon Education Coordinator Lindsay Cain for a Virtual program on backyard birds and habitat. We will cover beginning birding including some identification tips on common backyard birds. Additionally, we’ll review ways to make your yard more appealing to birds and other wildlife.  Perfect for novice and aspiring birders. Presentaion, plus time fo Q&A. Join us at this Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86045454084?pwd=azRsZ2pmZ3JEUHN3cSthQjdzbWt0UT09
Meeting ID: 860 4545 4084
Passcode: 150773

Tips for attending the presentation:

  • After a presentation, there will be time for Q&A.  Feel free to ask questions!  You will be able to type this in the chat box or unmute and ask.
  • We ask that participants stay muted for the majority of the program so that everyone can hear the presentation. Host will unmute for participation.
  • If possible, please keep your camera on so that our presenter can see the participants.
  • It is helpful if you can change your Zoom display name to the first name(s) of those attending, to help us better interact with you.  To do this once you are in the Zoom session, click/tap on "Participants," find your name in the list, and click/tap on rename.

Please note: The library’s patron conduct policy applies to virtual library programs. Library staff has the right to remove participants from virtual programs who are in violation of the patron conduct policy. Thank you for your understanding.
