Potter Park Zoo welcomed a male red panda cub July 21, 2022!  You can read more about the red panda cub on the blog post here.
 
We need your help naming the male cub! Zoo fans are invited to vote for their favorite cub name! Make a special donation to the Potter Park Zoological Society with your vote. Every $5 donated counts as a vote toward your favorite pair of names (i.e., $10 equals 2 votes). All donations will support Potter Park Zoo and its mission of inspiring conservation of animals and the natural world.

Crafting for a Cause is a casual, friendly group that serves the community with hand-made projects.  Many members work with yarn but other craft forms are always welcome.  The group offers suggestions for projects to be made with your materials.  It's a great way to use your yarn stash on small items like hats and dishcloths.  The donations benefit area programs including,  but not limited to, Grand Ledge Food and Clothing Bank and Timber Creek Ranch, a life-skills residential home for young men.  The group is always looking for new members to produce donations and new groups to serve.  All skill levels are welcome.  For information, contact Cheryl at ourdailybread360@gmail.com   Please note Crafting for a Cause as subject

Learn emergency procedures, discipline techniques, diapering, age-appropriate activities, pediatric CPR, rescue breathing, the Heimlich maneuver, and basic first aid skills needed while babysitting. Upon workshop completion, students will receive a pediatric CPR card, a basic first aid card, and a babysitting course certificate. Please Note: Registration required, class size limited. Please bring a doll or teddy bear to the workshop.)

Dress up and come downtown for some early Halloween fun. Young children and their parents are invited to visit our gently spooky "Witch's Magical House" from 4-6 pm, and get a treat, before heading out to "Trick-or-Treat" on Bridge St from 5-7pm!

Plus--It’s a great time to check out your favorite Halloween books and movies for the weekend!  Our Halloween activities are fun and appropriate for all ages, no registration necessary!

Beginning Ukulele Workshop Series for the Family --Ages 8 to 88

This is a fun way to share the aloha spirit of the ukulele together as an ohana (family in Hawaiian). Taught by Michigan’s Ukulele Ambassador, Ben Hassenger, and sponsored by the Music is the Foundation non-profit; you will learn a brief history of the instrument and all the basics you need to get started playing right away, including:

  • How to hold the ukulele
  • Tuning the ukulele
  •  One-, two-, and three- finger chords
  • Transitions between chords
  • Strumming patterns
  •  Easy, fun songs

Loaner ukuleles and a binder to keep your lesson materials and song sheets are provided. Registration Required, class size limited for personalized instruction.

Crafting for a Cause is a casual, friendly group that serves the community with hand-made projects.  Many members work with yarn but other craft forms are always welcome.  The group offers suggestions for projects to be made with your materials.  It's a great way to use your yarn stash on small items like hats and dishcloths.  The donations benefit area programs including,  but not limited to, Grand Ledge Food and Clothing Bank and Timber Creek Ranch, a life-skills residential home for young men.  The group is always looking for new members to produce donations and new groups to serve.  All skill levels are welcome.  For information, contact Cheryl at ourdailybread360@gmail.com   Please note Crafting for a Cause as subject

We'll provide a selection of ribbons, fruit and floral trims,  and pinecones! Please bring any other trims, ribbons, etc. in the colors you wish. We'll craft and create together, for a personalized holiday decoration to beautify your home.

Crafting for a Cause is a casual, friendly group that serves the community with hand-made projects.  Many members work with yarn but other craft forms are always welcome.  The group offers suggestions for projects to be made with your materials.  It's a great way to use your yarn stash on small items like hats and dishcloths.  The donations benefit area programs including,  but not limited to, Grand Ledge Food and Clothing Bank and Timber Creek Ranch, a life-skills residential home for young men.  The group is always looking for new members to produce donations and new groups to serve.  All skill levels are welcome.  For information, contact Cheryl at ourdailybread360@gmail.com   Please note Crafting for a Cause as subject

Grand Ledge Food Bank always needs donations of the following:

  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towel
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Small bottles of dish soap
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Deodorant
