Gloversville Documentary Premiere and Discussion

A local filmmaker produced a film about Gloversville’s efforts at revitalizing its local economy.

Greg Hitchcock of Gloversville said he concentrated on making a movie about downtown Gloversville because he believes that downtowns play a vital part in a city.

“I think it is vitally important to have a vibrant downtown,” Hitchcock said. “Someday Gloversville’s downtown will thrive again if the right opportunities are seized upon. The momentum is already beginning.”

Hitchcock has interviewed many people, including city and county officials, local entrepreneurs, and others who play a significant part in Gloversville’s past and future revitalization efforts.

Among the people interviewed were city of Johnstown mayor Vernon Jackson, Gloversville’s Councilman-at-Large Vincent DeSantis, Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy, Gloversville Public Library’s Director Barbara Madonna and others.

Hitchcock’s documentary will be released on his company’s website at www.commandvoicejournalism.com on Dec. 21.

See it here first at the Gloversville Public Library’s Carnegie Room at 6 p.m. with light food and refreshments. A panel discussion will follow the featured short documentary.
