Infusing Your Life with Herbs

There exists a quantity of pleasures to be encountered by using herbs in your everyday life. Using fresh herbs (either grown in your garden or on a windowsill) ensures that you not only enjoy the product of your labors, but a sensory experience as you create them. Learn how to take simple culinary staples, such as butters, sugars, vinegars, and more and transform them into something special with the addition of fresh herbs, infusing your pantry with the scents and colors of summer. Herbs can also be used in natural cleaning products, as well as body and beauty products, reducing the need for toxic chemicals and harsh ingredients. We will sample an array of herb-kissed products which will enliven your life throughout the year, and set a course for your own herbal adventure.

Karen O'Brien's herbal business “The Green Woman's Garden” www.greenwomansgarden.com is located in the town of Richmond, NH and is now investigating the possibilities of gardening in the woods, as well as the fields. She has unusual herb plants, including medicinals and native herbs, for sale, runs workshops on various herbal adventures, and occasionally participates at farmers markets and fairs. Karen lectures and presents workshops on all aspects of herbs and gardening. A Master Gardener, she is past Northeast District Member Delegate for The Herb Society of America, was the Botany and Horticulture Chair of HSA, past Chair of The New England Unit of HSA, was Secretary of the International Herb Association, and is Past President of the Greenleaf Garden Club of Milford, MA.  She is the editor and contributing author to several Herb of the Year books, including Capsicum, Savory, Artemisia, and Elderberry, produced by the IHA. She also writes a gardening column for the Richmond Rooster, and is chair of the Agriculture Commission for Richmond.

A collaboration between the Haverhill Garden Club and HPL.

Teen Filmmaking Class

In this hands-on, 6 week class, local filmmaker, and
professional animator, Tim Smyth, will teach the art of visual
storytelling.
As a group, students will conceive, plan, perform in, and film,
a short movie, or two. The movies will be no longer than 4
minutes, and will rely on visuals, instead of sound, to tell
their stories. Using the limitations of VHS-C cameras, students
will have to think more about how movies are made, as they will
shoot their movies in script order, editing in camera, as they
go. There will be no later fixing in the computer. It will be a fun exercise in having to go without modern
conveniences. Without the use of dialog, or sound in any way,
students will discover what a truly visual medium movies can be.
The first 6 classes will be spent making the movies, the
7th and final class day will be a premier for family and
friends, as the finished movies will be shown in glorious VHS.

For those in grades 6-12

Virtual Tabletop Guild

An ancient darkness is on the rise as the Virtual Tabletop Guild continues the Age of Ashes campaign for Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Nestled in the foothills of the Five Kings Mountains, the quaint town of Breachill has a proud tradition of assembling groups of adventurers to handle tasks beyond the skill and scope of their humble guardsmen. When during this month's Call for Heroes a humble goblin scholar beseeches the town council to investigate the signals for help from an abandonned Hellknight citadel, will our adventurers be up for the task? What strange creatures and bygone mysteries will they find hidden beneath Hellknight Hill?

Participants may create their own 2nd level characters for Pathfinder 2nd edition to play as, or use available pregenerated characters. If you have any questions about this process or the system, feel free to send me an email!

The meeting will be conducted virtually via Discord and the Foundry virtual tabletop program.

--For Adults (18+) only.

Registration is required. A link to the Foundry game will be sent at least 15 minutes prior to event start time.

Registrants must have a stable internet connection, a microphone (integrated, external, or headset) and headphones/earbuds.

If you are interested in this program but are unable to attend, I would like to hear from you! Please send me an email at mvalenzuela@haverhillpl.org with any questions or concerns regarding program scheduling and/or content.

Registration required

Searching Shadows with Dustin Pari!

Shadow People – Hat Man – Men In Black – Call them what you will, they remain one of the most intriguing anomalies in the paranormal. Are they spirits? Aliens? A figment of our imagination? Or perhaps they are something else entirely. A visit from one of these shadow figures is what started Dustin upon his road into the supernatural. Check out this lecture to cast a little light into the darkness and see what lurks in the shadows.

With 30 years of experience researching the unknown, Dustin Pari brings exciting and positive lectures about the paranormal all across the country, As a part of television's Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, and appearances on Destination Truth and Ghost Nation, Dustin has traveled the world over looking for answers and expanding his understanding of the unseen realm.

Dustin's fascination with the paranormal began with an encounter he had with a spirit in his childhood home. In his efforts to better understand what had happened, and why, he has traveled across the United States to 27countries upon 6 different continents, learning a little more with each step of his journey.

Throughout the year he travels as an invited guest lecturer at the largest paranormal and spiritual conferences and conventions in the country. He has been interviewed by television's Anderson Cooper, and has done radio shows and podcasts all around the globe. He has written two books based upon his findings and his unique approach to the paranormal, along with 3 other books that include stories from life on the road.

Dustin is known for his wacky and slightly offbeat sense of humor, which helps to balance the light and dark material that can make up the paranormal world. His multimedia presentations run for an hour, and then Dustin likes to make time for some Q&A, resulting in an approximate 90-minute lecture event.

In addition to conducting his paranormal research, Dustin also does a lot of work as a motivational speaker, suicide awareness advocate, and Christian lecturer. His annual holiday themed motivational lectures are not to be missed! Drawing on various pop culture themes mixed with Christmas television classics, Dustin's holiday motivation is second to none! He has also penned two motivational books thus far, and two more are currently in the works. Be sure to check out his YouTube series “Hey! Got a Minute?”

When not touring the lecture circuit, Dustin is the COO of a surgical practice based in New England. In his limited free time he enjoys being with his family, watching NASCAR, listening to music, and taking in a good slice of pie from a greasy late-night diner.

An ancient darkness is on the rise as the Virtual Tabletop Guild continues the Age of Ashes campaign for Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Nestled in the foothills of the Five Kings Mountains, the quaint town of Breachill has a proud tradition of assembling groups of adventurers to handle tasks beyond the skill and scope of their humble guardsmen.
