Just beginning to read chapter books? Then, check out this virtual book club of "Branches" titles. These beginner books have vibrant illustrations and fun characters. Each month we will focus on a different book series and complete a STEM activity. Make sure you register to save your spot. Then, we will send you an email to arrange a pickup time for your copy of this month's book (to keep!) and the supplies for the STEM activity.
This month's book is "Press Start - Game Over, Super Rabbit Boy" by Thomas Flintham and the activity is a build-your-own chain reaction set. It will take some time to design, test out, and improve your chain reaction, so we recommend getting started on the STEM activity ahead of the book club meeting. Then, you can show-off your chain reaction design during the Zoom meeting. Camera and microphone required to fully use Zoom, but you can turn off the camera and mute the mic if you prefer.
Recommended for Ages 5-8

Join us once again for a night of cross-town/interstate trivia with our friendly rivals from Plaistow.
Click on the link below to register with the Plaistow Public Library. Please include your team name below and the number of players on your team.
Not only are you playing for bragging rights, but restaurant gift certificates will be awarded to top placing teams. The game is targeted towards adults but is open to all ages. Some questions will be Jeopardy level, while others will be easier. Local/regional history will also be featured.
Well-known local trivia host Stephen Wagner will be our quizmaster. This program will be held on Zoom. We will send an email on the day of the program that includes the link as well as additional information about the setup and rules of the game. See you then!
About our host:
Stephen R Wagner is the author of six books and is The Former Poet Laureate of Amesbury, Massachusetts. For the last three years, he's hosted a monthly trivia night for Barewolf Breweries in Amesbury. Stephen's style of trivia eschews a traditional focus on pop culture, and instead looks to explore the fascinating facts of the universe all around us. One fun fact is that Stephen has never actually "attended" a trivia event, himself, yet he's hosted over thirty five well attended trivia nights, for a variety of public and private groups, over the last several years.

Join a community of 25 public libraries from across the state to welcome Michael Twitty, as he discusses his book, The Cooking Gene, the 2018 James Beard Foundation's Book of the Year Award-winner. Massachusetts-based chef and author (and huge Michael Twitty fan), Chef Bill, will facilitate this event's discussion.
African American culinary historian Michael Twitty found there was a giant hole in the story of American cooking and in the story of most African American families. In this unique memoir, Michael starts to trace his family history through the story of Southern and American food. Using genetic research, historic interpretation, nature study, heirloom gardening, and interviews with contemporary voices in food, his journey led him back to his family’s origins in West and Central Africa and put him center stage in the discussion over race and food in American life through his popular food blog, Afroculinara.
As 25 town libraries are collaborating to make this event possible (with the expected correspondingly sized audience), we will be utilizing two viewing modes: Zoom webinar and livestreaming through NewTV, to ensure everyone will be able to view the event at the same time.
Please note, registration will close 2 hours prior to this event.
For more information about Michael Twitty, visit afroculinaria.com. For more information on Chef Bill, visit chefbill.com

Join the Rockabye Beats Block Party! This 40-minute outdoor party or class features singing, dancing, playing instruments, show and tell, and a healthy dose of silliness! Our Block parties are a fun and safe way to cure those Zoomed-out Quarantined Blues.
Each child will be given their own pre-sanitized set of instruments to have at each class and our performers will be wearing masks and performing at a safe distance.
This event will be held in the Stage St. parking lot. Registration required (coming soon).
About Rockabye Beats: At Rockabye Beats, we recognize that children love contemporary music just as much as adults do. We also understand that this is the perfect time for your child to experience a second language. Our Spanish infused songs aren't watered down or one-note, but rather they're catchy and fun, and very often make you want to dance a cha cha. No matter your age, our original music is enjoyable for the whole family - after all, it's better when you can share it together!
