Mother Goose on the Loose

Join us for an outdoor Mother Goose on the Loose Session!

Mother Goose on the Loose is a fun-filled interactive program that uses rhymes, songs, puppets, musical instruments and more to stimulate the learning process of babies and toddlers. This program is open to all ages 0 to 3, and we will be OUTDOORS and SOCIALLY-DISTANCED on the lawn in the back of the library. Since the ground may be damp from dew, please bring a blanket or portable chairs.

We will be performing for you live and we ask that family groups sit together. Please help your children maintain social distance from other families.

Historical Fiction Book Club - October

The book cover for The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow, featuring a design of snakes, flowers, and other green plants woven together with a ribbon.Get spooky with the Historical Fiction Book Club at 5:30pm on Wednesday, October 13th to discuss The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow. This event will be held on Zoom (link will be posted on this page and in our Facebook event the day of the event).

Call or email us at 978-425-2620 or shirley@cwmars.org to request a copy and RSVP. You can also order the book in the catalog: catalog.cwmars.org/eg/opac/record/4457656

Book summary from the catalog: "In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box. But when the Eastwood sisters -- James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna -- join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement. Stalked by shadows and sickness, hunted by forces who will not suffer a witch to vote -- and perhaps not even to live -- the sisters will need to delve into the oldest magics, draw new alliances, and heal the bond between them if they want to survive. There's no such thing as witches. But there will be."

Hope to see you there!

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Club

Our Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Club's next meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 pm.

This meeting will take place via ZOOM.

This month, the group will discuss "The Trials of Koli" by M.R. Carey

RSVP (978)425-2620  or email shirley@cwmars.org to order a copy of book. Happy reading!

The journey through M. R. Carey's "immersive, impeccably rendered world" (Kirkus) -- a world in which nature has turned against us -- continues in The Trials of Koli, book two of the Rampart Trilogy.

Koli never planned to set foot outside his small village.

He knew that beyond its walls lay a fearsome landscape filled with choker trees, vicious beasts and Shunned men. But when he was exiled, he had no choice but to journey out into this strange world where every moment is a fight for survival.

And it's not just Koli's life that is threatened. Whole villages just like his are dying out.

But Koli heard a story, once. A story about lost London, and the mysterious tech of the Old Times that may still be there. If he can find it, there may still be a way for him to change his own fate - by saving the lives of those who are left.
