Wednesday May 1, 2019 - Sunday June 30, 2019

Every month the paintings, photography, sculpture and other creative crafts are displayed in the Helen Gould Room located directly off the main foyer, and in the Lower Lobby display cases. We are pleased to present the following exhibitions:

May: Island Girls Art was formed in 2014 under the direction of Melissa Hin. They are a group of artists who are members of many associations, including Southampton Artists Association, Brookhaven Arts, and Good Ground Artists. Members of the group for this show are Melissa Hin, Dale Krongel, Margaret Stolz, Vicky Bryant, and AnneMarie LaFace. The artists work in acrylics, oils and mixed media. Their art portrays landscapes, seascapes, portraits, animals and images of imagination.

June:  Exhibiting this month will be French artist Sophie Sejourne. Sophie has studied at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in France and is a graduate of The Art Students League of New York, which has her works in their private collection. She has appeared on radio and TV in her country in addition to exhibiting widely throughout France, Europe, Mexico, Asia and the United States. Sejourne has developed a new technique of integrating postcards and photos from family and friends into her geometric and lyric vocabulary.  An Artist Reception will be held on Sunday, June 2 in the Helen Gould room.

One Circle: Girls Circle

Our talking circles, Girls Circle and The Council for Boys, reach across demographics to help youth find belonging, develop healthy social skills, and build self-confidence. These structured meetings also use evidence based techniques to provide healing, prevention, and intervention tools for teens who have or may experience trauma.

These circles create connection and build a community that provides safety, respect, non-judgment, and a listening environment. Facilitators avoid lecture or advice, but affirm strengths and promote youth leadership through the core principle that all people deserve a voice, to be believed in, and to know that “they are not alone.”
