AARP's Tax-Aide Service will be held by appointment only on Tuesdays from February 7th through April 11th.

Registration information: Beginning Wednesday, January 11 at 10:30 am, appointments can be made online (the link will be posted here at the time of registration), in person, or by phone by calling 516-931-1417. No-shows for appointments without notification will not be given a new date.

AARP Tax-Aide Service allows taxpayers to provide electronic files containing their completed forms and tax documents. This program is aimed at low to moderate income taxpayers with simple tax returns that can be prepared in less than one hour. Taxpayers with complicated tax returns (more than 12 documents) or out-of-scope subjects will be advised to seek professional tax preparation assistance as will those with incomes exceeding $100,000.

The Hicksville Library's AARP Tax Aide volunteers will use an appointment-based drop off procedure to prepare, finalize and e-file returns.

  • Patrons will have the option to wait in the library or outside while their information is reviewed and scanned. We will need a phone number or email that AARP will use to communicate with patrons to respond to questions or comments.
  • Once the scanning process is complete, patrons will have their documents returned to them by AARP.
  • This year there is an extended intake package that you can pick up from the library before your appointment. Appointments can be made in person or by phone by calling 516-931-1417. No-shows for appointments without notification will not be given a new date.

AARP's Tax-Aide Service

AARP's Tax-Aide Service will be held by appointment only on Tuesdays from February 7th through April 11th.

Registration information: Beginning Wednesday, January 11 at 10:30 am, appointments can be made online (the link will be posted here at the time of registration), in person, or by phone by calling 516-931-1417. No-shows for appointments without notification will not be given a new date.

AARP Tax-Aide Service allows taxpayers to provide electronic files containing their completed forms and tax documents. Navigating College Admissions Successfully in 2023

Stand Out For College is offering a Zoom presentation to help families understand how the lingering effects from the pandemic have changed the college admissions landscape and how it affects Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen.

The recent college admissions cycle was the most competitive to date. With most colleges continuing their test-optional policies as well as increasing their virtual outreach to high school students, many schools had record numbers of applicants. Record high numbers of applications result in record low acceptance rates which is what most popular colleges and universities experienced this past admissions cycle.

We will discuss current college admissions trends, the importance of researching and visiting colleges to find schools that can be a good fit for your child, a timeline and other action steps that can be taken to make this second half of the school year productive and help reduce the stress around the college admissions process.

They’ll examine the holistic admissions review process, what admissions officers consider important when they review applicants, and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission.

They will also discuss the importance of community service, how it can provide an opportunity for personal growth and a way to showcase a student’s character. Admissions officers place great emphasis on a student’s character and how the student has been able to give back and help others. This program is recommended for parents and their high school teens.

The presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper, partners at Stand Out For College, LLC. (www.standoutforcollege.com)

PLEASE CHECK YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL FOR ZOOM INFORMATION!

Find out more information about the process and what to bring to your appointment here.
