Spring is in the air, and it's time to spruce up your patio or garden space with creative upcycling. Join us for an easy introduction to the art of decoupage on terracotta pots.
How often do you buy a package of decorative napkins and not use them all? You will learn how the simple process of cutting and pasting those leftover napkins can transform forgotten items, like that old flower pot in the garage into something special for yourself or as a special gift.
All materials will be provided, including one new pot for each participant. (We have some napkins, but if you have pretty decorative napkins you'd like to use or share, please feel free to bring them.)
Registration is required. Priority registration will be given to Jaffrey library cardholders. Teens and adults only.

Come grab some literature, ask some questions or if you think you may need services, we can do an online application on site. So come on by and say hello. Many folks are not aware of the legal assistance that may be available to them…looking forward to meeting you.

Ancestry.com, WiFi Hotspots, State Park & Museum Passes... All these and more are paid for by proceeds from the Friends of the Jaffrey Library's ongoing Book Sales and Friends' membership dues.
Their book sales are a great way to support the library and add to your home library at a bargain price! Volunteers refresh the shelves on the main floor and lower level frequently, and there are books for all ages.
The Friends need to replenish the stock, but not be overwhelmed with books and disposal problems, so we have set up a monthly donation event.
On the second Saturday of the month, 10 am - Noon, the Friends will hold a two-hour book donation event in the Bean Room. People can bring up to 25 books in good condition to the Bean Room where volunteers will screen them for condition and subject matter that sell well in their book sales.
Please do not leave books for the Friends in our Book Drop and be understanding that library staff cannot accept donations on their behalf.

Join our monthly book discussion with our Humanities Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Carrie Brown.
Each month, Dr. Brown will facilitate our discussion on a title related to the theme of TRANSITIONS and how we, as humans, transition through life and define ourselves along these journeys. She will engage us in a more critical reading of our texts, exploring language, structure, and character development.
This month's title is: Rachel Joyce, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, 2012.
Harold Fry is determined to walk six hundred miles from Kingsbridge to the hospice in Berwick-upon-Tweed because, he believes, as long as he walks, his old friend Queenie will live. Joyce's first novel, it was a long-list finalist (top 12) for the 2012 Man Booker Prize, and Joyce won the UK National Book Award for New Writer of the Year for the book. It was also the best-selling hardback book in the UK from a new novelist in 2012. It was a New York Times best seller and was named one of the best books of the year by The Washington Post. A film adaptation has recently been released in the UK.
Carrie Brown holds a Ph.D. in American Literature and Folklore from the University of Virginia. Working for more than thirty years as freelance history curator, she has developed exhibitions for museums, visitors' centers, and historic sites on a wide range of topics, including industrial history, transportation, and the Civil War. As a curator and speaker, Carrie delights in finding and telling stories about the connections between big historic events and our everyday lives. As a book group facilitator, Carrie guides readers through stories told by others--whether in fiction or nonfiction--exploring how the depth and breadth of human experience can be communicated through the written word.
This program is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. This meeting will be in-person with a Zoom option.
This project was made possible with support from New Hampshire Humanities, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities. Learn more at www.nhhumanities.org.

Being a new parent can feel overwhelming and isolating - come build a circle of support for your family as you connect with others in the same season of parenthood. Led by River Center educator, Kelli Tourgee, each session will provide the opportunity to learn ways to care for yourself and your baby, as well as exchange experiences and support each other's journey into parenthood.
This new weekly program is co-sponsored by the library, the River Center and a New Hampshire’s Preschool Development Grant with the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District.
All are welcome.
Be forewarned that we schedule most of our class visits on Fridays from 10 am - 2 pm, so our Storytime space by the Cutter Creativity Wall may not be available and we may have a lot of little visitors!
Everyone is still welcome, but we don't want you to be disappointed if your preferred spaces are otherwise occupied.

Join us for a sesquicentennial celebration of Willa Cather, one of the most singular and treasured American writers of the 20th century. Cather’s story is one defined by a lifetime of determination, struggle, and gradual emergence. Cather’s groundbreaking fiction (O Pioneers!, My Ántonia, One of Ours, The Professor’s House, Death Comes for the Archbishop) set a new standard in American literature. This presentation of Cather's life and times will explore her turbulent biography and uniquely American voice. Sprinkled into the lecture: readings of Cather’s work and letters.
Our presenter is Peter Cipkowski, Ed.D., an interdisciplinary scholar at UCLA and Vice President of the National Willa Cather Center Board of Governors.
Registration is required.
