Bookworms

Bookworms is a book club just for 1st & 2nd grade students and their parents/caregivers!

The idea is that we all read the same book, just like a traditional book club. Then, we will gather to discuss and do activities. This makes reading social and engaging, setting the tone for a lifelong love of reading. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to spend time together, bond and discuss interesting topics.

For this meeting we will be reading The Princess in Black by Shannon Hale!!!

Poetry Writing Workshop

Writing poetry can seem daunting, especially if you do not feel you are naturally creative or bursting with poetic ideas. With the right inspiration and approach, you can learn to write poems that you can be proud to share with others. Under the guidance of Cameron Marzelli, Lakeville resident and faculty member at Lesley University in Cambridge, these poetry writing workshops will allow you to experiment with various poetic forms, techniques and themes. The sessions will include exercises that we hope will inspire, cajole, and tease you into writing poetry. The group will also read and analyze poems written in the different poetic forms or about varying themes or ideas as part of the learning process.
