Hygge (pronounced Hue-ga) is the newest buzzword in relaxation and lifestyle. Hygge is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or a moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out and about, ordinary or extraordinary, as cozy, charming or special. We're ready to get our Hygge on here at the library. Of course, we want to learn a little about it too. Join us for a full-on night of Hygge with Eva Robinson from the Royal Danish Consulate of Pittsburgh. We'll be getting cozy with various gentle and soothing things like candles, cocoa and blankets so be sure to wear something comfy (slippers are encouraged!) Adults 18+ for this ultra-delightful evening. The fire will be lit so join us to learn something from the culture that boasts the happiest people in the world!

P.L.A.Y. - Peace, Love, and Yoga

Little yogis can stretch, play, and relax with Marlie Filipek!  This class will take place every other Wednesday in the Children's Dept. Story Room.

The Helping Children Tomorrow Club will provide tutoring for children ages 5-12. The club will be at the library every other Wednesday in the Children's Dept. Art Room. Kids must have homework to work on during the hour. A small snack will be provided.

The Helping Children Tomorrow Club is a student-run club at the Fox Chapel Area High School. The students are dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and giving back to the community.

This knitting group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday every month. Beginners are welcome. Bring a project to work on and join us for an evening of crafting!

Mari Rolewicz will show how to make an apron for the first project of our new Maker Activities for Adults program.  We will be learning how to use the sewing machine in this class.  Please register by stopping by or calling the library.

Tech-tutor, Carolyn Luck will be here the 2nd and 4thThursday of each month for individualized 1-on-1 tech-appointments to help you with your smartphone, tablet, e-reader or laptop. She works with both Apple and Android devices like Kindles, Galaxy Tabs, iPads and iPhones. Call the library to schedule your ½ hour slot. No-shows/no-calls will be allowed 1 reschedule.

As the weather gets questionable, Carolyn’s availability is weather-permitting, so be sure and call the library if it’s particularly bad out to see if she’ll be in.

The end-of-the-year holidays are often hectic.  With many parties, events and excitement, it’s hard to find time for any new endeavors. But take an evening for yourself to join us to learn all about essential oils.  Kelly Petit will go over what essential oils are, how they work and how to use them effectively and safely.  You will get to smell some of the most popular oils, test several out and even taste some oil-infused goodies.  You’ll walk away with the basics of using essential oils in your daily life and knowledge about how to easily incorporate them into your routine.   Families who use oils regularly feel better overall and find they are able to remove toxins from their homes more easily.
