Meditation Group

“Meditation” covers a variety of practices that designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy, and develop compassion. Benefits of meditation include calming and clarity of the mind, and decreased anxiety, stress, anger, fear, jealousy, and destructive thoughts. Over time, meditation can help us to better relate with others and become more empathetic in all situations.

Come and have a cup of tea to learn more, then try it for a few weeks and decide for yourself.

Led by Brian Findlay, a Pepperell resident who wants to share what meditation has provided to him.

BAKE & BUY!!!

Help the Friends of the Library support the Youth Services department by participating in the cupcake fundraiser: Bake and decorate 1-2 dozen (or more!) cupcakes to donate, and bring them to the library between 10:30 and 11:30 AM on January 20, 2018. Cupcakes will be sold in packs of 6. Save your best one to enter in the cupcake contest – everyone will get to vote for their favorite, and prizes will be awarded at 1:00 PM.

Not a baker? ...come show your support by purchasing an assortment of the yummy cupcakes!

For more information, call Friends President Diane Temple at 978-433-5751.

Sponsored by the Friends of Lawrence Library.

The Youth Services room at the Lawrence Library is a very busy place. On any given day, you will find kids doing yoga, enjoying story times, making crafts, and checking out piles of books. The Friends of the Library fund all of the children's programming, including craft supplies, and approximately 80% of the children's book budget.

Book Club - Special Author Event

This month's book: Among the Shadows by Bruce Robert Coffin.

We are very excited to welcome Bruce Robert Coffin for a book discussion and signing. Bruce is the bestselling author of the Detective Byron mystery series and former detective sergeant with more than twenty-seven years in law enforcement. At the time of his retirement, from the Portland, Maine police department, he supervised all homicide and violent crime investigations for Maine's largest city. Bruce also spent four years working counter-terrorism with the FBI, where he earned the Director's Award, the highest honor a non-agent can receive. Additionally, Bruce is a member of International Thriller Writers, Mytery Writers of America, Sister in Crime New England, and the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance. He is also a regular contributor to the Maine Crime Writers Blog and Murder Books Blog.

Among the Shadows is the debut novel of the Detective Byron mystery series. The second in the series, Beneath the Depths, was released in August 2017. Also, look for his short story, "Fool Proof ", in Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's, Best American Mystery Stories 2016.

We've been meeting since 1998 and always have a talkative and fun group. Join us!
