Raising a Puppy With a Purpose

Join us for this FAMILY EVENT at the Gales Ferry Community Center!  Raising a Puppy with Purpose will be given by Valerie Hazlin.  Valerie raises puppies for the organization Guiding Eyes for the Blind and she has much to teach all of us, not only the puppies in her care, about what it takes to become a guide dog.  Come meet her newest “student” Waffle, and find out what you can do when you meet a guide dog or a puppy learning to be a guide dog.  Please register on our website under library events.

Join Craig Floyd, Farm Manager at Coogan Farm of Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, for this online program about prepping your garden for next spring, by taking steps this fall. This presentation will cover the fall soil test, remineralization, cover crops, regenerative soil primer, garden amendments to feed the soil's microbiology, and the beneficial insects for winter. Get yourself set up for spring planting before winter!

This program is hosted by the Mystic & Noank Library and Ledyard Public Library and co-sponsored by Eastern CT Community Gardens Assoc. (ECCGA), the Bill Memorial, Groton Public, Public Library of New London, Stonington and Waterford Public Libraries.

Graphic Novel Book Club

Join us to discuss Pilu of the Woods by Mai K. Nguyen.  Books will be available to pick up the month before we meet to discuss the books.   Our meetings will be discussion based but there will also be time for trivia and we will occasionally do some drawing. For 2nd - 5th Grade and registration is required. 

LOCATION: Bill Library
There are 3 spaces available.

Ledyard Senior Center Book Discussion

Every 4th Wednesday we meet at the Ledyard Senior Center to discuss the book the we read that month.  Come join us,  for lively discussions, intellectual stimulation-and fun!  For the month of September we are reading H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald and meet September 28th at the Ledyard Senior Center at 10:30 AM.  Books may be picked up at the Gales Ferry Library.

H is for Hawk is a book born of grief but enraptures the heart to live and fly.

A fun and energetic storytime! Learning stations will be offered at the end of each storytime that will actively engage, entertain, and build the skills of the children who participate.  For ages 3 - 5. Registration is not required however space is limited to the first 15 families.
