We meet the 4th Wednesday of each month at the Ledyard Senior Center at 10:30 am. This month on the 25th of May, we will be discussing the book Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. Born in Kiev, Irene was a writer who fled the Paris occupation of the Nazis, and her manuscripts for this book, which was meant to be a longer novel, survived the War in a suitcase. "Suite Francaise is a singularly piercing evocation-at once subtle and severe, deeply compassionate, and fiercely ironic-of life and death in occupied France, and a brilliant, profoundly moving work of art." goodreads
A novel that is, unfortunately, timely as we are about to enter the summer of 2022.
Books are handed out at the previous month's meeting or can be picked up at the Gales Ferry Library.
