Share your 2020 experiences with future generations!

Please submit photos and written accounts of you and your family or Ledyard business during the COVID19 pandemic. Did you start new traditions? How did your business adapt? What did your family do to cope with quarantine, recovery, virtual school, or work? Are you an essential worker? What is that like for you?

  • Donations of materials related to the people, buildings, and events of Ledyard and Gales Ferry are gratefully accepted for preservation and inclusion in the collection for future researchers, either as digital copies of the items themselves.
  • Your Gales Ferry and Ledyard memories will be added to the archive in the Janice W. Bell Historical Research Room at the Bill Library. We will scan them and return them to you with a digital copy placed on your flash drive. Digital copies are easy to share with far-flung family members or to use as a back-up if the original is lost or damaged.

Composting with Worms

Suitable for both Adults & Families (all children must be accompanied by an adult)

Ledyard resident, Jean Scialabba, has been composting with worms for 30 years & will join us to discuss indoor composting techniques & explain how to reuse our kitchen waste so that it turns into “gardener’s gold”. Anyone who would like a hands-on experience is welcome to bring some of the “red wigglers” home with them (1 bucket/family, individual adult or adult couple).  This event will be held outside, on the Bill Library Lawn, weather permitting. We will have limited seats at outdoor tables, so we are encouraging families & anyone willing to sit on the ground, to bring a blanket or old sheet to sit on. We will require mask use during this program. Registration will open on June 17.
