What does the college admissions landscape look like today?  How can you match interests, abilities, values, and karma with the right college?  How does a college admissions committee operate and for what are they really looking?  What are the current trends and hot topics in college admissions?  And just how are you supposed to pay for it all?  Workshop leader Cigus Vanni will lead this series of workshops at the Bala Cynwyd Library, meeting on four successive Sundays.

Students and parents are welcome!  Each individual session covers different topics though the workshops are meant to be experienced as a series - come to one, come to all!

No charge or pre-registration required.  These sessions are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Lower Merion Library System and are intended to augment rather than supplant or substitute for high school guidance efforts.

Ludington Author - Jacob Shell, Giants of the Monsoon Forest: Living and Working with Elephants
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

High in the mountainous rainforests of Myanmar and India grow some of the world's last stands of nature, wild teak. For more than a thousand years, people here have worked with elephants to log these otherwise impassable forests and move people and goods (often illicitly) under cover of forest canopy. In Giants of the Monsoon Forest, geographer Jacob Shell takes us deep into this strange elephant country to explore the lives of these extraordinarily intelligent creatures and the people who ride on their backs. Jacob Shell is an associate professor of geography and urban studies at Temple University. He is also the author of Transportation and Revolt: Pigeons, Mules, Canals and the Vanishing Geographies of Subversive Mobility (MIT Press 2015).

This event is generously funded through the Margery B. Hall Programming fund
