10 Tips to Manage Stress with Dr. Wendy Hurwitz (AT THE OLD LYME LIBRARY)

How to reduce stress: 6 steps to manage stress - Medvisit

Up to 90% of all visits to doctors’ offices are stress-related, according to Harvard.  Stress can be considered as much a risk factor for disease as smoking. Why can two people be in the same situation and respond to stress in different ways?

Can changing the way we carry stress be a learnable skill?

Come and learn the difference between good and bad stress, increase awareness of how stress impacts the body, and hear about the emerging pattern matching specific symptoms and diseases with specific stresses.

Everyone will learn a technique to minimize stress and maximize vitality.

About Dr. Wendy:

A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Hurwitz is a nationally recognized expert on stress. A former medical researcher for ABC News, Dr. Hurwitz is an expert in two fields: Mind/Body Medicine and Energy Medicine. She teaches both professionals and students in medicine, psychology, and the allied health professions, and has lectured at Harvard Medical School, Yale University School of Medicine, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, University of Connecticut School of Medicine, NYU, and Fordham University.

Martin Scorsese and the American Dream with author Jim Cullen

The Lyme Library is honored to have the author and educator Jim Cullen appear to speak about his book "Martin Scorsese and the American Dream”.

Credited as one of the greatest American filmmakers of our time, Scorsese has tackled the consequences of striving toward the "American Dream" in every one of his films. From "Mean Streets" to "Killers of the Flower Moon", he has portrayed the glamour and pitfalls both morally, and financially of ambition gone unchecked and what happens to the human spirit when it is disconnected from the anchors of human empathy and understanding. "Martin Scorsese and the American Dream" is a fascinating book and a must read for any Scorsese fan or film lover.
