Babysitting Class

Become a certified babysitter at the library!   We will be offering the 4-H Babysitting Course on Monday and Tuesday, June 24 & 25 from 10:00 to 2:00 pm.  Participants must be 11 years old or older and you must attend both days. To become a responsible babysitter you will learn about:  child safety, first aid and emergencies, stages of child development, discipline, entertaining, and the business of babysitting. The class will be instructed by a 4-H Program Associate and certificates and I.D. cards will be issued upon successful completion of the course.  The 4-H Babysitting Course is free, however, space is limited and registration is required. Babysitting Class

Become a certified babysitter at the library!   We will be offering the 4-H Babysitting Course on Monday and Tuesday, June 24 & 25 from 10:00 to 2:00 pm.  Participants must be 11 years old or older and you must attend both days. One Book One Community Presentation - 'From The Moon To Mars'

For more than forty years, NASA missions have explored Mars, the Red Planet, with orbiters, landers and rovers.  It's the planet most like our own with dust devils, giant dormant volcanoes and a thin atmosphere.  Could we go and someday live there?  By 2024, NASA plans to be going back to the moon and using a new gateway there to fly humans to Mars. Join Solar System Ambassador Pat Monteith as she discusses the Apollo missions, the 50 years since, and the plans to return to the moon and go to Mars.

And how did they return safely to Earth? Join us for a webcast with Dr. Carter Emmart, the Director of Astrovisualization at the American Museum of Natural History. “Through the solar system and beyond!”… is exactly where Dinoman takes his audience in this fast paced exploration of the heavens. The eight classical planets are visited and investigated—as well as Pluto, gravity, and the incredible cold of space. Dinoman Space uses dinosaurs, meteors, comets, liquid air, and a goldfish to give students a truly unique view of the solar system.  This program is supported by a grant from the Mashpee Cultural Council , a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
