1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Read a book to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. You may repeat books as often as you like.  You can reach 365 books in a year if you read every night; 730 books in two years; and 1,095 books in three years. ABC Play is an unstructured play and learn period that has letter-learning toys to promote early literacy. These rotating materials will be out in the youth department near the Library's Picture Books and Early Readers.

We have: magnetic letters, block sets, flash cards and phonics sets, snap and learn letter sets, felt board alphabets, carpet squares, chalk boards and beading letters.
It is for caregivers and children ages 1-5.

Registration is not required, drop in any time during the hour.  Cleanup begins an hour after start time.

Lunch Time Guided Meditation

Join us for some guided mediation during your lunch hour.

Meditation connects us with our original self that is pure, peaceful, and powerful. Develop clarity to make the right decisions, help control anger and reduce stress and anxiety.

Facilitated by library staff member, Leena, a 11 year practitioner of Rajyoga meditation, delivers youth and adult programs on values and facilitates workshops on topics such as Harmony in Relationships, Stress Free Living, & more. She conducts classes at different Brahmakumaris locations including Piscataway New Jersey and at Peace Village Retreat Center in New York.

Nonfiction Book Club: Killers of the Flower Moon, by David Grann

Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI presents a true account of the early twentieth-century murders of dozens of wealthy Osage and law-enforcement officials, citing the contributions and missteps of a fledgling FBI that eventually uncovered one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history.

Mailbox Mondays Activity Station, K-5th Gr.

Use the weekly writing prompt to write a postcard for a librarian.  Add some color with markers, rubber stamps, and stickers, then put a stamp on it and place it in our “mailbox.” “Mail” will be collected at 5pm and displayed in the Children’s Department.

Yoga for Beginners

Jackie George, certified yoga instructor, RYT 200, teaches this eight-week series of gentle stretch yoga classes. If you would like to learn the basic poses typically performed in a yoga class and have them explained to you so you feel more comfortable taking yoga, this series is for you! Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel or yoga mat. Class is limited to 15 participants. Registration is required.

After in-depth knowledge of the strategies provided, students would be ready to play in local tournaments.

These story times introduce children to the best age-appropriate stories in children’s literature. Action rhymes, songs, and felt board activities are part of the program. The content of each story time centers on a different theme. An age-appropriate craft follows story time. Each program runs about 45 minutes. Each theme is the same all week.

Bucket Book Club: Blindness, by Jose Saramago

Annual Halloween Playfest at West Windsor Library

The Mercer County Library System, West Windsor Branch will be presenting four new Halloween-themed short plays written by Michael Kerr: “The Curse of Miss White,” “Backstage,” “The Last Day of School,” and a musical short play “Duet in the Dungeon,” with music by Laura Liao. Performers range in age from 12 years and up and are mostly from the Mercer County area. Performances will be on Friday, Oct. 26th at 8 PM; Saturday, Oct. 27th at 3 PM and 8 PM; and Sunday, Oct. 28th at 3 PM. The play is sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library. All performances will take place at the Mercer County Library, West Windsor Branch, 333 N. Post Rd., Princeton Junction. Admission is free. Doors open 20 minutes before show time. Science Enrichment Program (Grades 5-8)

Yoga for Beginners

Jackie George, certified yoga instructor, RYT 200, teaches this eight-week series of gentle stretch yoga classes. If you would like to learn the basic poses typically performed in a yoga class and have them explained to you so you feel more comfortable taking yoga, this series is for you!
