Big Building Block Free Playtime

Big building block free playtime for preschoolers, with caregiver supervision. Cleanup will begin about an hour after start time.

Oversized plastic building blocks will be out in the department for kids to play with, in cooperation with others who are persent. Children may need to take turns. Projects will be taken apart in order for the next interested child to play and create. We have 384 pieces.

Alphabet Alley is an unstructured play and learn period that has letter-learning toys to promote early literacy. These rotating materials will be out in the youth department near the Library's Picture Books and Early Readers.

We have: magnetic letters, block sets, flash cards and phonics sets, snap and learn letter sets, felt board alphabets, carpet squares, chalk boards and beading letters.
It is for caregivers and children ages 1-5.

Registration is not required, drop in any time during the hour.  Cleanup begins an hour after start time.

This year's summer reading program theme is "Libraries Rock!"
Every Monday we will have musical entertainment for young children.
Today we are featuring Mr. Matt from Turtle Dance Music and his "Music, Bubble and Comedy Show: Born to Read."
This is a high-energy performance about why libraries rock! The show engages children of all ages with songs, comedy, bubbles and music technology. Each song is accompanied by hands-on, visual, and sensory experiences designed to help kids learn and have fun at the same time. Kids will dance, sing, and understand why libraries are so important for our future.

Tai Chi is a gentle, low-impact exercise that provides huge health benefits to people of all ages and all physical capabilities.  Instructor Gang Huang, PhD (chemistry) will share with the audience some general knowledge about Tai Chi and will offer participants ample opportunities to follow along with him as he demonstrates movements.

Dr. Huang has learned and practiced Tai Chi for many years under the guidance of Grand Masters Yang Jun, Chen Zhenglei, and Chen Yu in China and has been teaching Tai Chi since 2015. Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library.

This 40-minute show highlights the sense of sound.

Through a combination of demonstrations and audience participation we bring the science of sound to your children.

Among the experiments the students will witness how sound waves travel using both the audience and a Slinky. 

They'll participate in creating a rainstorm complete with rain, thunder and lighting.

And for a finale we'll get to hear the quack of Quacker the Duck, the growl of Terry the Tiger and the roar of Rex the T-Rex.

Halloween Play Auditions (Ages 12 & up)

The Youth Services Department of the West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library System will be holding open auditions for teens ages 12-18, as well as some adult roles, for our upcoming Halloween short plays: “The Curse of Miss White;” “Backstage;” “The Last Day of School;” and a mini-musical, “Duet in the Dungeon.” The auditions will take place on Saturdays July 28th and August 4th from 2:30-4:30 pm, and Thursdays July 26th and August 2nd from 6:30-8:30 pm. Auditions will consist of readings from the script, and for singing roles a selection of well-known songs. Scripts will be available for inspection at the reference desk, or can be sent by e-mail. Auditions will take place at the West Windsor Branch, 333 North Post Rd., Princeton Junction. Rehearsals will begin in early September. The performances will take place on October 26th to 28th. Effective Doctor Visits

Halloween Play Auditions (Ages 12 & up)

The Youth Services Department of the West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library System will be holding open auditions for teens ages 12-18, as well as some adult roles, for our upcoming Halloween short plays: “The Curse of Miss White;” “Backstage;” “The Last Day of School;” and a mini-musical, “Duet in the Dungeon.” The auditions will take place on Saturdays July 28th and August 4th from 2:30-4:30 pm, and Thursdays July 26th and August 2nd from 6:30-8:30 pm. Auditions will consist of readings from the script, and for singing roles a selection of well-known songs. Scripts will be available for inspection at the reference desk, or can be sent by e-mail. Auditions will take place at the West Windsor Branch, 333 North Post Rd., Princeton Junction. Rehearsals will begin in early September. The performances will take place on October 26th to 28th. Big Building Block Free Playtime

Big building block free playtime for preschoolers, with caregiver supervision. Cleanup will begin about an hour after start time.

Alphabet Alley is an unstructured play and learn period that has letter-learning toys to promote early literacy. These rotating materials will be out in the youth department near the Library's Picture Books and Early Readers.

It is for caregivers and children ages 1-5.
