Hallowed Ground: Putting the Civil War Dead to Rest
7:00 PM

Presented by Martin Mosho. Over 750,000 men died in the American Civil War, but the tragedy was magnified by disrespectful burial practices in which large numbers of bodies were dumped, unidentified, into trenches. Enemy soldiers were frequently not buried at all and left to rot where they fell. This program covers this issue and shows how after the war, federal and state governments sought to rectify the matter. The presentation contains graphic images and is not suitable for young children. Registration required.
