Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn: Success Workshop (Grades 9-12)
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Have you ever lost at something that you wanted to win? Felt embarrassed when you were wrong? Wished you could have a major “do-over”?

Have you ever felt like you weren’t allowed to fail? Like your parents and teachers expected you to meet extremely high standards no matter what—even if it didn’t seem possible?

And what happens when you do mess up? Do you feel hopeless, like you can never recover from the mistake?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then this highly interactive  workshop is for you.  If you’re like most people, you’ve suffered some loss in your life. Are you ready to learn from it?

This workshop will help you look at how you can turn losses into opportunities, and how you can see failures from a different perspective. These concepts can help you now and will continue to do so as you grow into young adults and adults.

Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn: Success Workshop (Grades 6-8)

Evening Book Group

Cecilia Ross is looking for a change. She has decided to take time off from her job as a successful motivational speaker and sell her home. She moves in to a beautiful old house in St. Paul, Minnesota, complete with a big front porch, a wild garden, a chef's kitchen--and three roommates.

The four women are different ages, but all are feeling restless, and want to take a road trip to find again the people and things they miss. One woman wants to connect with a daughter she gave away at birth; another wants to visit her long-absent ex-husband; a third woman, a professional chef, is seeking new inspiration from the restaurants along the way. And Cecilia is looking for Dennis Halsinger, the man she never got over, who recently sent her a postcard out of the blue.—Provided by publisher

The French in America, from Fighting to Fashion
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Adult Program

Why did the French journey to North America in the 1600s? What were they looking for, and what did they find? Why did their efforts to establish a colony end in disaster—and set the stage for the American Revolution?

Join historical novelist Jeff Heller as he uses slides and commentary to present the fascinating story of how fighting, folkways, and even fashion influenced the actions taken by the French in their bold quest to claim a continent.

The author’s book, A False Dawn, will be available for purchase.

Registration recommended, though walk-ins are welcome. Registration begins on February 22; call 609-799-0462 with questions or to register.

La Convivencia presents The Human Library (All ages)
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

La Convivencia brings diverse people together to bridge their differences through mutual respect, community service, civic engagement, and community dialogue. With the rise in antisemitism, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and other forms of bigotry nationwide, La Convivencia’s work is more important now than ever before!

The Human Library, which will meet monthly will initiate a community dialogue to allow participants of other cultures, faiths, and ethnicities to interact. The Human Library is an event where real people are on loan to readers. For our first event, please consider being a “book” and share 1-2 stories about your life/perspective/culture/religion that others might not know about you. You can also be a reader, and have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about your “book.” By sharing our opinions in these conversations, not only will we challenge the stereotypes, prejudice, and hate, we will also try to break them.

In addition, we will be organizing interactive workshops and presentations to engage participants of all ages in proactive activities. Let’s come together to share our thoughts and discuss ways we can act within our communities.

All are welcome. No registration required.
