Friends of the Lawrence Library Book Sale
9:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Thousands of used, gently-read books will be available at the Friends of the Lawrence Library Book Sale. A special preview night will be held Friday, January 18. The library will be closed for normal operations during the preview event but you will have the first chance to get some amazing deals. Admission to the Preview Night is free for members of the Friends of the Lawrence Library, $5 for the general public, and $20 for booksellers. This event is the only time booksellers will be permitted to use scanning devices.

Introduction to Isha Meditation

Done in a simple seated posture, Isha meditation gives you access to your deepest life energies and makes them vibrantly alive. It does not require any physical fitness and is easy to integrate into any lifestyle. Taught by a Isha Foundation instructor.

Abraham Lincoln Visits Philadelphia
7:30 PM

Lincoln first saw Independence Hall during his 1848 visit to Philadelphia. He visited Philadelphia four times and was moved spiritually and emotionally by each visit. Join historical lecturer and tour guide Michael Jesberger for a lecture on the president’s time in Philadelphia. Registration is suggested.

Junior Globetrotters & Read-Aloud Workshop (Ages 5-9)

For children ages 5-9.

Join a local Girl Scout teen volunteer to learn about different countries and cultures through folktales and crafts! Each week features a different country/culture.

Then practice your reading skills out loud with her while reading a book of your choice! Get help on vocabulary and pronunciation as needed.

No registration required.

Caregiver must remain in library while child attends program.

Three Centuries of African-American History in Trenton

Learn about the people and places associated with Trenton's African-American community from its founding to the mid-twentieth century. Presented by Jennifer B. Leynes, author of Three Centuries of African-American History in Trenton: Significant People and Places, which was published by the Trenton Historical Society with support from the New Jersey Historical Commission. She serves on the Trenton Landmarks Commission and is employed as a Historic Preservation Specialist by the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office. Registration required. Call 609-882-3148.
