Egg Carton Chimes

For children 4-11 yrs, youngest with a caregiver.

A perfect summer art project making chimes to blow in the summer breeze!

We’ll paint upcycled materials and wooden beads.  Then string them with colored laces and large jingle bells to create beautiful hanging chimes.

Registration is required and starts at 7am the day of the program.

Please register each child separately.  Space is limited.  Program will begin promptly at 6:30pm.  Your spot will be given to another patron if you are late once the program has begun.  Please phone us at 883-8295 if you will not be able to attend so another child may fill the spot.

The goal of the Science Enrichment Program is to help middle and upper elementary school students understand concepts in chemistry, physics, earth science and biology. Drop in any time between 2-5pm, and visit our Mailbox Activity Station!  Write a postcard to your friendly librarian (or anyone you know), then decorate it with markers, rubber stamps, and stickers!  Add a diy stamp and place it in our toy mailbox. “Mail” will be collected at 5pm and displayed in the Children’s Department.  Each week will have a different writing prompt to get you started, but you can write about whatever you'd like.

Join us for a fun and interactive workshop with AoPS Academy Princeton and learn to CRACK THE CODE. 

The participants will learn about how various simple ciphers work, and how they were used throughout history to write secret messages. They will then use ciphers, including the Ceasar Cipher and Pigpen Cipher to decode messages and even encode messages of their own.

First, draw patterns for your cone and scoops of ice cream on thin foam for your printing plate (does it have sprinkles? chips?)!

Next, use a brayer rolled in inks of ice cream colors on the inking plates to spread onto your foam plates.  

Turn over and stamp your prints on paper, building your stacked ice cream cone!

Who knows?!  We may celebrate our successful printmaking with a real ice cream party at the end!

Let’s Sew! A Quiet Mouse Backpack Zipper Pull

In this Sewing 101 program learn how to use basic sewing tools and techniques to make your own stuffed quiet mouse!  Enjoy it as a toy or as a great back-to-school zipper pull for your backpack! 

An easy beginner's sewing project!  Learn how to do the running stitch & the whipstitch, sew around the edges, add ears and a tail & then stuff it!  Play with it as is, or sew on a simple ring, clip on one of our carabiners and your quiet mouse is ready to hang on your backpack!

Easy tools such as large eye needles, needle threaders, round head pins and colorful craft thread make the work easy!  

An easy sewing project for boys and girls ages 5-11 yrs.

Join AoPs Academy Princeton as we delve into a story that will take us on a journey back in time about 3,000 years to Ancient Greece! In this workshop students will: 

- Read a myth about the rivalry between Athena and Poseidon 

- Learn how the story of this rivalry explains the origins of Athens

- Learn how to annotate and why annotating makes us stronger readers

- Leran how authors use nouns to characterize their characters

- Practice writing and using nouns of their own to characterize the gods
