PS Tutoring

PS Tutoring is a non-profit, community based organized made up of Honors and AP students from Hightstown High School.

Science Enrichment Program (Ages 7 & up)

The goal of the Science Enrichment Program is to help middle and upper elementary school students understand concepts in chemistry, physics, earth science and biology. Volunteers will also assist student sin preparing for science competitions including the Science Bowl and Science Olympiad. General questions will be addressed and topics of interest will be discussed where they require more clarity.

Creative Math Problem Solving (Grades 2-7)

Mailbox Activity Station, K-5th Gr.

For children ages 5-10, with adult supervision.

Drop in any time between 3-5pm, and visit our Mailbox Activity Station!  Write a postcard to your friendly librarian (or anyone you know), then decorate it with markers, rubber stamps, and stickers!  Add a diy stamp and place it in our toy mailbox. “Mail” will be collected at 5pm and displayed in the Children’s Department.  Each week will have a different writing prompt to get you started, but you can write about whatever you'd like.

The class will be separated into complete beginners and players who know how to play the game. For the first half of the class, the players will learn depending on what group they are separated into. For the second half of class, participants will work as pairs in their own group. At the end of class, students will be given one puzzle according to their groups to solve at home.

Learners' Ledge Writing Workshop (Ages 9-12)

Calling all dreamers, readers, & writers - let's delve into the world of writing and explore the land of language arts!

Learners' Ledge is a Language Arts workshop focused on helping Elementary and Middle School students adjust to higher writing and reading levels based on the New Jersey language arts standards.
 
Taught by a West Windsor-Plainsboro High School teen volunteer.
 
Online registration suggested, but not required.
 
A parent/guardian must remain in the library while child attends the program.

The class will be separated into complete beginners and players who know how to play the game. For the first half of the class, the players will learn depending on what group they are separated into. For the second half of class, participants will work as pairs in their own group. At the end of class, students will be given one puzzle according to their groups to solve at home.

Registration required. Once registered, you will be signed up for all classes (2/6, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27). 

Students must bring their own chess board.

Learners' Ledge is a Language Arts workshop focused on helping Elementary and Middle School students adjust to higher writing and reading levels based on the New Jersey language arts standards.
 
Taught by a West Windsor-Plainsboro High School teen volunteer.

For the second half of class, participants will work as pairs in their own group. At the end of class, students will be given one puzzle according to their groups to solve at home.

500 Math Problems & Answers (Grades 5-8)

Are you passionate about solving math problems as they relate to daily applications? This program is geared toward Algebra 1 students, but the first part of the problem series can be solved by students who know arithmetic, fractions, and percentages without using algebra. 

Registration required. Space is limited. 

Students must bring a calculator, paper, and a pencil.
