The Lost Cause: How the South Saw the U.S. Civil War
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Adult Program

The Lost Cause was a movement created by the South to justify their guilt in starting the war. It was built on dishonest and badly distorted historical claims. Several generations of Southerners were raised to believe it. It even attained a status of believability in the North.

The Lost Cause creates a romanticized, mythical view of the old South that never existed. The result was a racist, frequently violent culture that lasted until modern times. Northern media, including the movie and TV industries, contributed to this illusion.

Presented by local historian Martin Mosho.

Registration begins on March 22. Register online at www.mcl.org (Adult Programs), or call 609-448-0957 for assistance.
