Fairhaven Kids Fest
Craft vendors, children’s activities, special guests, and entertainment are planned for this fun fall Saturday, outdoors on the lawns of Fairhaven High School and the Visitors Center. Make fall crafts to take home, enter the costume parade and contest, shop at kids vendors/food trucks, and enjoy live entertainment and more family fun!
  • Craft vendors, children’s activities, special guests, and entertainment are planned for this fun fall Saturday, outdoors on the lawns of Fairhaven High School and the Visitors Center. Meet and act like a pirate with Pirates of the Cape, make crafts to take home, enter the costume parade and contest, and enjoy other family fun.

A costume parade and contest will be held at 2:00 p.m. Children will sign up in advance at the booth of the Millicent Library. Prizes will be awarded for “Silliest/Most Funny,” “Scariest,” “Most Fabulous,” and “Most Heroic,” in three age groups—baby & toddler to age 3, ages 4-11, and ages 12 and up.

You’ll be able to find a used costume, too, at the Fairhaven Sustainability Committee’s Halloween Swap booth. Clean, used Halloween costumes, accessories and decorations are being collected in a bin inside the Town Hall from now until October 9. At Kids Fest you can look through the collected items to see if there is something you can use.

FairhavenTV will be on hand with a photo booth where children with or without costumes can have a photo taken with a spooky background. The photos will be available to download and will be incorporated into FairhavenTV’s Virtual Halloween Party which will be streamed and broadcast on Fairhaven cable TV later in the month. They will also have promotional “Mystery Bags” to hand out.

Barbosa Farm will have pumpkins for sale. Children will be able to purchase a pumpkin, then paint and decorate it at the neighboring Millicent Library Pumpkin Painting booth, for free!

At the table run by Climate Reality Massachusetts Southcoast, children can help take action for climate legislation by adding their handprints and first names to a “Climate Legislation Now!” Parachute. They may also sign letters and draw pictures to be sent to state legislators.  Free reusable straws will be handed out.

The Buttonwood Brass Trio will provide music from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A stilt walker from Extraordinary Arts will be walking the grounds at the same time.

Fairhaven Kids Fest will be held on the Lawn of Visitors Center and Fairhaven High School: 141 Main Street at Route 6, Fairhaven.  This event is sponsored by the Fairhaven Office of Tourism and Millicent Library Youth Services.
