Learn about the Mass Center for the Book's 2024 Reading Challenge and how your library can participate! Led by Karolina Zapal, Program Coordinator for the Mass Center for the Book.
Mass Center for the Book is excited to launch the second installment of its Commonwealth-wide Reading Challenge, and Massachusetts libraries are once again invited to be a Reading Partner for the Challenge. This Reading Challenge gives people of all ages (yes, adults!) a chance to set and meet the goal of reading a book each month in a specific category and to share their experience within their reading community. There are no formal requirements for libraries to become a Reading Partner -- the Center just asks that libraries promote the Reading Challenge to their local community. Displays, programming, and other initiatives relating to the Challenge would be up each library, based on what works best for them. The 2023 Reading Challenge, which is drawing to a close, saw 2,500 participants from 275 cities/towns in Massachusetts, with 69 Reading Partners spreading the word. The Center's goal for 2024 is to have at least one participating reader from each of the 351 cities/towns in Mass, to hit 3500 participants total, and to have 85 Reading Challenge partners!
