Fall Garden: Put it to Bed, Plan Ahead!

The leaves have begun to fall from the trees, the perennials and annuals are looking straggly, and the fall flowers are in bloom (asters, sedum, caryopteris, goldenrod and others).  It’s time to think about preparing the flower beds for winter.   Perhaps it is too soon for you, so let’s look at the should do, could do and would do projects in your yard.

But, first take time to assess the garden , take a moment or more to enjoy the fall beauty around before you “Put it to Bed …”, and think about planning ahead!

Presented by Kathy Klein, Master Gardener Volunteer, Penn State Cooperative Extension Office, Montgomery County.
