2019 Greater Nashua Photovoice Gallery
3:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Photovoice is a program in which participants take photos as a means of telling a story. Photovoice is used around the world to give people without a voice an opportunity to tell their story. The theme of this year’s project is “Community is Here”.

As part of the program, participant’s receive a public health presentation from the City of Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services where they are able to learn more information about what public health prevention looks like. The goals of this project are to increase participants understanding of public health in the community, promote critical dialogue and knowledge about personal and community issues within Public Health through large and small group discussions, and to provide visual representation(s) of community experience and problems within the Public Health context. This is what Substance Misuse Prevention looks like; building up the youth, increasing their social skills and their relationship network, educating them on healthy living and making sure their self-esteem is in a positive place. Those are the true goals of all prevention programs to build up healthy, successful youth that in turn create healthy and successful communities.

Participating youth will spend four weeks this summer learning about photography and capturing photos to show how they view their community. Please join us as youth show of their final projects at the 2019 Greater Nashua Photovoice Gallery on Monday, August 19 fromm 3:30-6:30pm at the Nashua Public Library.
