Stark Decency: New Hampshire’s World War II German Prisoner of War Camp

During World War II, 300 German prisoners of war were held at Camp Stark in the New Hampshire North Country. Allen Koop explores what the history of this camp reveals about our state and our country’s war experience. Dr. Koop, author of Stark Decency: German Prisoners of War in a New England Village, teaches European and American history at Dartmouth. Sponsored by New Hampshire Humanities.

Friends Annual Meeting: World War Women: The Unsung Heroines of WWII

This live show, presented by History at Play, relives the terrors and triumphs of women who risked their lives to defeat fascism during World War II. They organized the resistance, rescued downed RAF pilots, tested new aircraft, and flew dangerous missions. These stories, not for the faint of heart, remind audiences young and old that humanity is strongest when working together. Suitable for ages 13 and up. Both members and nonmembers of the Friends of the LIbrary are welcome.

Outside in the Library Plaza, the City of Nashua Division of Public Health offers immunizations on the second Wednesday of every month. The following immunizations are available for $10 per person:

  • Pneumonia
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Td (Tetanus, Diphtheria)
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Pertussis, Diphtheria)

Influenza (flu) shots are $15 for adults and free for children.
