Stephen King is known as the master of horror writing. Many of the greatest films in history are based on his writings, but not all are horrors. Some are (The Shining, Carrie, The Dead Zone), but many are not (Stand By Me, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile). We will look at the writing career and subsequent adaptations into classic films of many of King’s novels and short stories. Viewing clips from films and interviews with King and various collaborators to see how the master of horror fiction translates into one of the masters of film storytelling. Via Zoom.  Register here.

The Mobile Mammography Van from Stony Brook University Cancer Center will be at the Library offering mammography screenings to women, age 40 and up.  The van is equipped with 3D digital mammography equipment. No prescription or insurance is necessary to receive a screening on the van. Gary S. Brown, the statewide Elder Abuse Coordinator for New York Attorney General Letitia James and Assistant Attorney General-in-Charge of the AG’s Westchester Regional Office, will present a program with a focus on common scams and frauds: the warning signs, how to avoid becoming a victim, and where to seek help if you think you're a victim. There will be special emphasis on COVID-related scams, as well as common telephone scams such as the "grandparent scam," the “Internal Revenue Service scam” and the "foreign lottery scam."  The program will also cover issues such as identity theft, romance scams and Internet safety. Participants will be provided with "do's" and "don'ts" to stay safe in their daily lives. Register here.
