Story Slam @ the Newton Free Library: Out of the Blue
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

If you’ve never been to a “story slam”, you will love it – friends and neighbors take turns presenting their stories. The theme is Out of the Blue. Anyone who attends can (but is not required to) throw their name in a hat to tell a story. Featured guests will include Linda Plaut (Director of Mayor’s Office on Cultural Affairs), featured guest #2 (title) and featured guest #3. Whether you want to participate or be part of the audience, join us for this lively Newton Festival of the Arts program!

Here’s how it works: Your story should be 5 minutes at most, be your own real life experience and relate to the theme. Beyond that, it’s up to you. What you say can be funny, sad, poignant or ridiculous – it just has to be a good story. Get up and tell it, no reading, no notes, no props. NOTE: Please refrain from presenting material that is obscene, offensive or otherwise inappropriate for the library environment.
