Starting Your Genealogy Research Online with Census and Vital Records

When people start going online to research their family history, the first documents they usually come across are the United States census (generated by the federal government) and birth, marriage, and death records (generated locally). I will discuss these documents in the context of computer-driven research. Some records can be used as proof of a relationship. Others are only signposts toward more reliable information. Tips relating to online research in general will also be incorporated.

The AARP® Tax-Aide™ Foundation will have trained volunteers on hand to prepare tax returns and answer questions related to regular (non-business) taxes. The program is designed to serve low and moderate income taxpayers and there are some limits on the scope of the returns that can be prepared.  Please check the guidlines here. Patrons will be asked to register on arrival and will be assisted on a first come-first served basis.

Please bring your social security card, a photo ID, copy of last year's (2017) federal and state tax returns plus all relevant 2018 tax documents you received such as W-2 wage statement, 1099 interest statement, health insurance coverage etc.  The new 2018 tax returns will be eFiled for free.

Patrons will be asked to register on arrival and will be assisted on a first come-first served basis.

Please bring your social security card, a photo ID, copy of last year's (2017) federal and state tax returns plus all relevant 2018 tax documents you received such as W-2 wage statement, 1099 interest statement, health insurance coverage etc.  The new 2018 tax returns will be eFiled for free.

The AARP® Tax-Aide™ Foundation will have trained volunteers on hand to prepare tax returns and answer questions related to regular (non-business) taxes. The program is designed to serve low and moderate income taxpayers and there are some limits on the scope of the returns that can be prepared.  Please check the guidlines here. Patrons will be asked to register on arrival and will be assisted on a first come-first served basis.

Please bring your social security card, a photo ID, copy of last year's (2017) federal and state tax returns plus all relevant 2018 tax documents you received such as W-2 wage statement, 1099 interest statement, health insurance coverage etc.  The new 2018 tax returns will be eFiled for free.
