LGBTQIA+ Drop-In

Are you a lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, ace or questioning teen? Are you a teen ally for LGBTQIA+ teens? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then we invite you to come to this event! Meet like-minded teens from the community and enjoy an evening of fun! Grades 7-12.

Sweet Reads
7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Teens in grades 7-8 and their parents come together to talk about a new book each month and enjoy desserts! All are expected to read the book in advance in order to discuss it together in the book group. We meet once a month on 9/4, 10/2, 11/6, 12/4, 1/8, 2/5, 3/5, 4/2, 5/7, and 6/4.  Online registration (required) begins Tuesday, June 26. When you register, you register at the same time for ALL 10 months.

Navigating the College Application Process

The college search and application process is complicated and taxing. Interested in learning how to make this difficult process easier? Join us for a panel discussion with Newton college counselor, Maruta Vitols of A+ College Consulting, Newton psychologist, Debbie Offner, writing coach, Jane Hirschhorn of JBH Tutoring, and Newton parent and former NSHS PTSO co-chair, Lori Lass. Registration (required) starts Thursday, May 16.

Kick-Start Your College Essay
7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Summer is a great time to start your college essay! Join Jane Hirschhorn of JBH Tutoring to get eleven ways to kick-start your essay. We'll go over excerpts from essays written by students admitted to prestigious colleges. This program is for high schoolers, particularly rising seniors and their parents. Online registration (required) begins Thursday, June 27.
