ELL-Conversations about Travel
12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

Conversations about Travel is a free class for intermediate to advanced adult English Language Learners. Read and discuss short stories about traveling and exploring new places. Selections will cover travel from around the world. Use articles, tour books, travel brochures, and websites to learn about places to visit. Create a basic checklist for packing. Work in small groups to plan a virtual trip to a region in New England.

11 Wednesday afternoon classes.  The class begins on September 16, 2015.

Limited to 12 students. Preference will be given to new students.

ELL-Let's Talk about Music!

Let's Talk about Music! is a free class for adult English Language Learners at all levels who have a basic knowledge of reading, writing and understanding English. No previous knowledge of music is required (only a love of music!). Listen to and discuss various pieces of music from classical to modern styles. Also learn about the composers or artists. 

10 Thursday morning sessions. Class begins on September 17, 2015.

ELL-American Culture and Your Children

American Culture and Your Children is a free conversation class  about parenting for adult English Language Learners.  Learn about American parenting practices and share your own culture's ideas about child-rearing.  This class is led by a former Boston Globe parenting columnist.

Grade 3/4 Book Discussion
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Kids in grades 3-4 and their parents come together to talk about a new book each month. All are expected to read the book in advance in order to discuss it together in the book group.  We meet once a month on 9/21, 10/19, 11/9, 12/14, 1/11/16, 2/8/16, 3/14/16, 4/11/16, 5/9/16, and 6/13/16.  Online registration (required) begins on Monday, June 15 . When you register, you register at the same time for all 10 months.

SCORE: Help for Small Businesses

SCORE volunteers provide area small business owners with free, one-hour counseling and advice sessions as follows:

- Weekly on Thursdays in the morning/early afternoon

- The second Wednesday of the month in the late afternoon/evening

- The forth Tuesday of the month in the late afternoon/evening

SCORE, America’s premier source of free and confidential small business advice for entrepreneurs and small businesses, is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. ELL-Reading and Writing Poetry

Reading and Writing Poetry is a free class for any adult English Language Learner above a very beginner. Read easy, short poems written for all ages. Learn about the form of limericks. Try your hand at haiku. It's not difficult and will be lots of fun. We will read and write in every class.

Talking About Health is a class for adult ESL learners who have a basic understanding of written and spoken English.  You will learn how to talk about the places we go for healthcare and the people who provide care, what to expect on your visit to the doctor or hospital, and health and medicine online and in the news.

ELL-New Ideas from Great People

New Ideas from Great People: Discussing TED Talks Videos is a free class for adult intermediate to advanced English Language Learners. Curious about the world? We will listen to and then discuss ideas presented in short, powerful talks by inspired experts from hundreds of talks at the TED.com archives. The class will select a different topic each class, e.g. psychology, technology, music, children, self-improvement, health care, and world politics. This is a great way to listen to many different excellent English speakers, challenge your discussion skills, and expose yourself to new ideas.
