Can your “astronaut” survive the difficulties of a lunar landing?

How much does an elephant weigh on the moon? Can Cosmoo The Cow jump over the sun? How many letters are in the outer space alphabet? And the most importantly: Is there pizza in space?  Kids blast off into astronomical fun in Steve Petra's Big Banana Blast Off.

Big Banana Blast Off is a ventriloquist puppet show for the whole family. Featuring comedy illusions, music and audience participation. Starring: Commander Chimp, Alexander From Andromeda, Astro Sheep, Cosmoo The Cow and Nasa Pizza. With a special appearance - and disappearance - by Mr. Frownypants.

Ventriloquist Steve Petra was trained at the National Theatre of Puppet Arts and at Jim Henson Productions. He and his wife Jeanie have created over a hundred characters for their shows as well as writing all their own scripts, songs and music. Steve is in demand as a lecturer for family performers and has taught workshops on puppet manipulation and character voices. He brings his shows to libraries and elementary schools.  Steve is a member of The International Ventriloquist Society and the Puppeteers of America.

The library will once again be offering patrons the chance to compete head to head in the Fourth Annual ESPN Fantasy Football League. The patron who wins the league championship will win a hat for the sports team of their choice. Registration will begin on Wednesday, July 3 and the live online draft will occur on Wednesday, August 28 at 8:30 pm. See Reference for more details and to sign up.
