Come and enjoy some toys and games before the start of our outside family story time! This program is an outside event, and weather permitting. Please bring a camping chair or blanket to sit on our side lawn, and bring a rattle or noise making toy as well! In case of rain, we'll move our story time to the program room upstairs. Registration is required to account for supplies.

Digital vs. Analog Showdown
2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Who will win? Trick question, you do... when you build, play, and explore with either or both of our digital and analog activities designed for creative learning. Some will even send you home with an item you made yourself! This is a self-directed program.

July 7: Perler Beads & Makey Makey

Yarrrr, who wants to parlay with me beads? No, you silly pirate. Perler, not parlay! Arrange and iron Perler beads into cool designs, and create a digital controller using a Makey Makey kit, cardboard, and other unusual objects to play video games or music. Registration is required.

NTRLZINE

NTRLZINE is based on the DIY aesthetic of online magazines, to share creative works from our community as a scrapbook of our Summer Learning Program. This program is open to all ages and abilities. Each week, we will gather for brainstorming and creative sessions. Snacks and a variety of art supplies will be provided. Submissions will be compiled and published virtually at the end of the summer. Feel free to participate remotely, too! Take a photo and share your contributions with us on Facebook or send an email to: northerntiersrc@gmail.com.

July 8: Top-Ten List

Create a top-ten list of your favorite books, movies, artists, and songs.

Friday Cooking Club

Four different areas of cooking (and eating!) will be explored this summer. A new module will be offered every two weeks. Four sessions of the same program will be available on two consecutive Fridays: Session A will be at 1:00 PM and Session B will be at 2:30 PM. Participants can sign up for the time and date that is most convenient for each of the four modules. You should only sign up for four cooking classes total, one for each module: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, and Dessert.

This program is for children ages 7 and up. Registration is required to account for supplies and will be limited to 12 attendees per session per day.

July 1 & 8: Lunch (Module 2: Session A)

Bring your best building skills to the library! Our friends at Lowe's and Home Depot have donated building kits that can be assembled with a hammer. Two different kits will be available on two separate dates for each kit. Please wear old clothes that can get dust or paint on them.

Build a small planter to fill with dirt and seeds, and take it home to watch your flowers grow.

GUP (Gay Uncle Patrick) loves his niece and nephew. How could he not? They are the offspring of his brother and Patrick's best friend, who became his sister-in-law. When his sister-in-law passes away, he steps in as guardian to the children. But loving and taking responsibility for a nine-year-old girl and six-year-old boy are two very different things. As Patrick rises to his new responsibilities, he discovers that he is just the person these children need, and in the process, heals himself. Join us for a discussion of The Guncle by Steven Rowley. Take a tumble into the world of computer programming by challenging yourself with Turing Tumble - imagine Plinko from The Price is Right melded with computer science logic. In addition, our Legos will also be available to build maze structures. Registration is required.

Join us for an evening of beer tasting and art as we celebrate Bob Ross's work while enjoying malty-darker brews such as porters, bocks, dunkels, and stouts. Sweet treats and desserts will accompany these fine selections. This program is for adults ages 21 and up. Registration is required for this event. There is a fee of $30 per person that must be paid upon registration. You can pay in person by cash, check or credit card or online through PayPal here.

Crossing the Rhine with Caesar: Engineering Marvels of the Ancient Roman Empire

Come and explore aspects of Ancient Roman Architecture through hands-on activities in this engineering workshop taught by Pine-Richland High School students, Elizabeth Shaffer and Matthew Carper! It's all about the squish! Squish this and squish that with our clay modeling analog activity as well as our Squishy Circuits for the digital activity. Squishy Circuits are a conductive clay that can be shaped into creative patterns to light up LED bulbs. Registration is required.

Please bring a camping chair or blanket to sit on our side lawn, and bring a rattle or noise making toy as well! In case of rain, we'll move our story time to the program room upstairs. Registration is required to account for supplies.

Who will win? Trick question, you do... when you build, play, and explore with either or both of our digital and analog activities designed for creative learning. Some will even send you home with an item you made yourself! This is a self-directed program.

July 28: Beads + Pipe Cleaners & HEXBUGs

What's bugging you today? Maybe HEXBUGs; electronic bugs that zoom around, flip over, and do all sorts of things in an unpredictable manner. We'll try our best to get these bugs to go through mazes decorated with beads, pipe cleaners, and other craft items. Registration is required.

Werewolf

Your small, idyllic town is being plagued by werewolf attacks! Can you figure out who the werewolves are and save the village?

Teens ages 10-18 can join us for this after-hours program. We'll also make and eat a snack! Registration is required as space is limited to 15 gamers.

NTRLZINE

NTRLZINE is based on the DIY aesthetic of online magazines, to share creative works from our community as a scrapbook of our Summer Learning Program. This program is open to all ages and abilities. Each week, we will gather for brainstorming and creative sessions. Snacks and a variety of art supplies will be provided. Submissions will be compiled and published virtually at the end of the summer. Feel free to participate remotely, too! Take a photo and share your contributions with us on Facebook or send an email to: northerntiersrc@gmail.com.

Four different areas of cooking (and eating!) will be explored this summer. A new module will be offered every two weeks. Four sessions of the same program will be available on two consecutive Fridays: Session A will be at 1:00 PM and Session B will be at 2:30 PM. Participants can sign up for the time and date that is most convenient for each of the four modules. You should only sign up for four cooking classes total, one for each module: Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, and Dessert.

This program is for children ages 7 and up. Registration is required to account for supplies and will be limited to 12 attendees per session per day.
