The Only Woman in the Room
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The next time you pick up your cellphone to make a call, you can thank Hedy Lamarr. Yes, the iconic Hollywood actress was more than just a pretty face - she was the patented inventor of a "secret communication system" which led to today's Wi-Fi technology.

In The Only Woman in the Room, Pittsburgh author Marie Benedict explores Hedy's story, from her birth as an Austrian Jew, her marriage to a controlling man with ties to the Nazi party, and Hedy's escape and eventual stardom in Hollywood. But in her mind, she carried secrets that she learned from the Nazis, and her scientific brain could use that knowledge to destroy them.

Marie Benedict will join our March session of Bridget's Book Club for a discussion and book signing of her new novel, The Only Woman in the Room.

Everyone is encouraged to attend this program, and registration is requested.

How to Make the Most of Your Move When Downsizing
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

When making a large or small move, it's important to consider the "four whats" - what to keep, what to sell, what to give, and what to toss. How to determine these four things is not always easy, but Doug Graham of AYPToday can give you the information needed to help you make the best decision you can.

Doug, a certified appraiser and licensed auctioneer with six years of professional experience provides valuable advice on areas such as:

  • Which of my items have value to sell?
  • How do I dispose of items such as paint and TVs?
  • What are some charities that I can give to?
  • How do I sell things on eBay or Craigslist?

Get answers to these questions and more in an informal Q&A. Registration is requested.
