A free series of five classes for ages 18 and up. Taught by Katy Mackay (a member of the Ukulele Orchestra of St. Andrews). Space is limited. Register by calling Library Adult Services at 850-522-2107.

During this five session class, you will learn the basic skills needed to begin playing this delightful instrument including how to tune, how to hold and strum, how to play common chords, and how to read chord charts. Some loaner instruments are available for class sessions, but you are encouraged to bring your own ukulele.

Archaeology Day

Archaeologists from the University of South Florida (USF) are investigating the lost town of old St. Joseph (1836 - 1841) which overlapped the south end of modern Port St. Joe.

You are invited to a public Archaeology Day to be part of the research on Old St. Joseph.

University of South Florida's Nancy White and Chris Hunt will give a slide presentation beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the region's archaeology. Bring your artifacts to be identified and your knowledge of the old town to share. Volunteer to participate in the investigation, even the digging!

Fun with Dash the Robot

Learn the basics of Blockly coding and program Dash to make his way through a maze. The classes are limited to 20 students per session. To register for the classes, visit the Youth Services Department or call 850-522-2118.

Children will work in teams to learn the basics of coding using the Blockly programming language. The teams will learn how to plan, code, and operate a Dash robot to successfully complete a variety of challenges. Classes are designed for children 7 – 10 years of age. No previous coding or robotics experience is needed. Students are welcome to attend some or all of the sessions.

Dash the Robot Fashion Show

Use LEGOs and other accessories to decorate Dash the Robot and then add sounds, lights, and movements to perform an exciting runway routine. The classes are limited to 20 students per session. To register for the classes, visit the Youth Services Department or call 850-522-2118.

Children will work in teams to learn the basics of coding using the Blockly programming language. The teams will learn how to plan, code, and operate a Dash robot to successfully complete a variety of challenges. Classes are designed for children 7 – 10 years of age. No previous coding or robotics experience is needed. Students are welcome to attend some or all of the sessions. 

These projects have been funded (in part) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Florida Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services, and by the Friends of the Bay County Public Libraries, the Bay County Public Library Foundation, and Kiwanis of Panama City.

Do you want to learn how to play guitar? In this 5-week Course you'll learn the very basics and will be able to play a few songs. This course is geared towards beginners, ages 15 & up.
