STEAM & Culture Book Club

STEAM & Culture discusses non-fiction titles that are Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math related. Come join us!

At today's meeting, we will discuss: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

Book Description:   Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek. There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience. A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in-the-eye moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives.

“From the delightfully witty dialogue and captivating characters, Ms. Patton’s writing shines in this story about home, friendship, and second chances…Reading this book is like sipping a peach daiquiri on your best friend’s porch.”—New York Times bestselling author Karen White

“Patton gives readers a ringside seat to the sorority drama at Ole Miss. But the story is deeper than getting the inside scoop on rush. Told with humor and heart, Rush is a story of right versus wrong, of old traditions pitted against modern ideas and changing times. ~The Atlanta Journal Constitution

Description: An agent for the U.S. Border Patrol from 2008 to 2012, third-generation Mexican American Cantú wearied of tracking humans and delivering them to detention and sometimes the morgue. An immigrant friend's disappearance after returning to Mexico to visit family prompted him to look at immigration on both sides of the border.
