"A study at Tufts University found that students who read to dogs have better outcomes than students who read to humans.

They experienced a slight gain in reading ability and attitudes toward reading, while those who read to people experienced a

decrease on both measures. Even more noticeable, there was no attrition in the dog group, while one third of those reading

to humans failed to complete the program"- Library Journal

Monday Movie Matinee - First Man

On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history. Written by Academy Award® winner Josh Singer (Spotlight), the drama is produced by Wyck Godfrey & Marty Bowen (The Twilight Saga, The Fault in Our Stars) through their Temple Hill Entertainment banner, alongside Chazelle and Gosling. Isaac Klausner (The Fault in Our Stars) executive produces. DreamWorks Pictures co-finances the film.

Gardening is Murder

‘Gardening Is Murder’.  presented by author, Neal Sanders.

This is a ‘husband’s point of view’ of gardening.  It is filled with humor and insight from someone who gardens less from an abiding love of horticulture than for the love of a spouse.  Good horticultural advice is dispensed, bad advice is debunked.  Your members will leave with a better appreciation of what is going on in the mind of their helpmates.

Need to practice your reading?  Well it starts here with Tinkerbell and Wendy, the Pawtucket Library therapy dogs!

Join the girls (including their human mom Dawn) and watch your reading improve along with your confidence at public speaking.*

Appointments are in 15 minute blocks, please call or email the library in advance.
