Adult Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading: It's Not Just for Kids

The Berkshire Athenaeum Circulation Department is pleased to announce that Summer Reading Bingo for Adults has returned for 2018. The program runs from Thursday, June 28, through Friday, August 17.

How does this work? Ask for a Bingo Card at the Main Circulation Desk.

One book or activity = one bingo square.

Return completed cards to the Main Circulation Desk.

Every time you turn in a completed card you receive an incentive reward from our Friend’s Store.

Complete as many CARDS as you like.

At the end of the program, each person who has turned in a completed BINGO CARD(S) will be automatically registered for our READING RAFFLE!

Our Raffle prize is:  a one year membership to our Friends organization OR a Friend’s book bag.  Five raffle prizes will be awarded.

Looking for reading suggestions? Reading lists  are available for many different fiction genres, such as mysteries, thrillers or romance.

Search for fiction and non-fiction titles or do subject searches in our online catalog.

Stop by our Reference Desk for assistance.

Goodwill Job Readiness Training

Goodwill Job Readiness Trainers will be at the Berkhsire Athenaeum for three free "Lunch & Learns" in the Athenaeum Room, August 7, 14, and 21. 

Please note that registration is for all 3 sessions and each session will last for approximately 2 hours.

Goodwill Job Trainers help people ages 18 & up from all walks of life gain operational skills, soft skills and 'real work' experience to strengthen their family's economic status. The topics are tailored to the needs of the participants with a  focus on job seeking and job retention.

Facilitators include Goodwill Workforce Development staff and volunteer community coaches. Participants are encouraged to take the opportunity to lead the discussion in areas where they have experience.

These training sessions are free and open to the public.. Space is limited and registration is required.

Lunch will be provided.

Clinic staff will perform testing for STD, HIV, and Hepatitis C at the library’s balcony level meeting room on the second Monday of each month.. All testing is confidential and notifications and follow-up services will be provided by clinic staff.

“Ghosts, Phantoms, Spirits and Author Jeff Belanger to Haunt the Berkshire Athenaeum.”

The Emmy-nominated host of New England Legends on PBS will share stories and legends and offer a multimedia lecture based on 20 years research.

This program has been approved for Forum Credit for Berkshire Community College students.

Free and open to the public.

The Berkshire Athenaeum is partnering with the Berkshire Medical Center's State Clinic to offer free, confidential health screenings on a walk-in basis. Clinic staff will perform testing for STD, HIV, and Hepatitis C at the library’s balcony level meeting room on the second Monday of each month.. All testing is confidential and notifications and follow-up services will be provided by clinic staff.

LOCATION: Athenaeum Room
