Registration for the Reading Club will still be online and required, but you will be directed to Wandoo Reader, the online registration tool from our Library’s website. You can also participate online in the Reading Club where you can log your books as well as choose reading themed challenges for weekly prizes. We are still providing reading charts and report forms weekly for those who do not wish to participate online this summer. On line Registration is still required whether you choose to participate online or not.
LIBRARIES ROCK! 2018 SUMMER READING CLUB (For all children, babies — Grade 5) Original Reading Club members read at home and/or get read to at home. Books read get listed on their charts at home. Reports/Picture Forms are filled at home too. Members of the original Reading Club come back to the Library to see a Children’s Staff Member once a week only (during scheduled times on Monday through Friday) with reading charts and forms for reporting/book discussions, stickers and prizes.
Online participants log books online in their accounts. They have online activities and challenges as well. They can upload completed report/picture forms. Online Reading Club members come to the Library once a week only (during scheduled times on Monday through Friday) so the Librarians can check their reading and challenge progress on computer. The Reading Club begins on Monday, June 25 and ends with the final session on Friday, July 20. Club members will be invited to a special performance in August.

When registering online, you will be filling out a general registration form and will not be choosing a specific time to come submit book reviews or pictures for stickers & prizes. Dates and times to come once a week to the Reading Club will be available in the Library Newsletter, Plainedge Kids Newsletter, on the Calendar of Events page where you register for other programs & we will have the dates posted by the Children’s Librarian’s Desk in the Children’s Room. Please remember that children come once a week to see a Children’s Staff Member who will see book reviews, accept pictures & give stickers & prizes.

Out-of-district residents may register beginning Monday June 25 depending on availability.
For all ages. Adult care givers accompany & participate with children preschool aged and younger. This activity is geared more for children entering 1st through 3rd grade in September 2018. No registration required. Come to the library's Children's Room to make your own creation using a variety of materials that are non-electronic. Supplies are limited. First come, first serve. The dates and times of this program are Tuesday, July 10th - 6:30pm-8:30pm & Thursday, July 19th - 6:30PM-8:30PM.
Grades 3-5 as of September. A special extension of the Summer Reading Club just for Gr. 3-5! Beginning August 1st, come to the library for your starter prize and keyboard form. Complete the 8 activities on your keyboard through the month of August and get a raffle ticket for each activity completed. The raffle prizes are: a Sphero App Controlled Robot, Kindle Fire and Fender Harmonica. A completion prize will also be awarded when all activities are submitted. The hours for Rock On! are Monday and Friday 10:00-5:00, Tues., Wed., Thurs. 10:00-5:00 & 6:30-8:30.
For all ages. Come to the Library to be entertained by a performer from the National Circus Project. This high-energy, action packed program is educational, fun and it encourages audience participation. Please register each child who will be attending. A current email address and phone number are required when registering, otherwise the registration is considered incomplete.
For children in grades 3rd-5th as of September 2018 only. This is a drop off program. There is a required, non-refundable $6.50 materials fee per child when you register online using PayPal. If you wish to pay with cash or check you must come to the Library in a timely manner to register online at the Circulation Desk. PLEASE NOTE: A spot will not be reserved until payment is made. This magic workshop is designed to intrigue the interests of children with the art of magic. Each child will be given some magic trick props to take home and practice so they can perform tricks for others! For children entering grades 1st-5th as of September 2018 only, This is a drop off program. Each child will get to paint a sweet ceramic piece! Each child should wear a smock or old shirt to protect clothing underneath.
