4th Annual Local Authors Fest
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

The Public Library of New London will be hosting its 4th Annual Local Authors Fest in our Adult Reading area.

Authors from Southeastern Connecticut will be on hand to talk to you about their books and sign and take photos. Authors of fiction, nonfiction, Young Adult literature, Children's literature, romance, history and mystery will be here. It's a great event for all ages! Midafternoon, several authors will speak to the public about their work, and their experience publishing their books.

Whether you are an author, an avid reader, a fan of local talent, or a community event connoisseur, please stop by and get to know some great local authors, hear about their backgrounds and latest releases, support the community, and own original signed copies of authors on the rise.

This event is free and open to all.

Crossword Crowd

Escape the cold, and exercise your brain! We will have a supersize crossword puzzle in our Adult Reading Room, as well as a few other puzzles to keep you busy. Work on them alone or with others - the choice is yours! The library is open from 1-5pm, so drop in any time.

English classes for those whose native language is not English have been offered at New London Adult Education since 1910, helping thousands of adults enter the mainstream of American life.


This class is available year-round and is offered FREE of charge! No registration is required.

 

Please note: The ESL schedule follows the local school closings and holiday closings. If the New London school district is closed there will be no ESL classes those days.

Read, Sing, Play
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Children birth to 5 years old are invited to join us every Monday morning at 10:30 am for story time fun. There will be books, songs, rhymes, movement activities, and more! This program will help teach children a love of learning and will offer parents/caregivers early literacy tips to use at home. There will be a playgroup immediately following the story time.

Violin Lessons
3:30 PM - 5:30 PM

The New London Community Orchestra is pleased to offer free violin lessons at the Public Library of New London!  The lessons will be 30 minutes long and held every Monday and Wednesday (you must committ to both days).

Bilingual Story Time

Children birth to 5 years old are invited to join Ms. Margarita every Tuesday morning at 10:30 am at the Public Library of New London for a bilingual story time. We will share stories, songs and more in English and Spanish. Immediately following the story time there will be a craft and free play. This program is free and will be held weekly.

Teen Tuesday: DIY Beeswax Wraps
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Teens in 7th to 12th grade are invited to attend Teen Tuesday every Tuesday afternoon at 3:30pm. 

This week, we'll be making our own reusable food wraps using beeswax and fabric!  This is an eco-friendly alternative to plastic wrap that is fun to make, and great at keeping food fresh!

Entrepreneurship in Three Easy Steps: Ready, Set Go! (Part 3)

Join the Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for a free series that lays the groundwork for helping new and aspiring entrepreneurs launch a business idea and understand the steps to building a business.

This is the final workshop in the three part series. Today, participants will learn How and where to find additional small business support and educational resources.

Safe Futures Parenting Classes
