Libraries Rock - Summer Preview at RMS

The misson of Plumb's summer programming is to empower participants of all ages to experience new activities, learning, and connections to the library and within the community during the summer!

Ms. Lisa will be at RMS from June 11-June 15 to get all students and staff on the same "sheet of music" about the 2018 theme - Music: Libraries Rock!  All kids will receive a "Playlist" of activities to complete during school and school vacation. A Collaborative Summer Library Program activity log will also be provided!  Ms. Lisa will share info about Wandoo, (our online registration, avatar, and challenge system),and all the free summer events "orchestrated" by Plumb Library!  NEW this year: Ms. Lisa will explain the 2018 Mosaic for Music Project! All kids and adults who register in Wandoo, complete summer activities and check-in with Plumb Library to share them, will earn color tiles to affix to our StickTogether poster. This is a fun collaborative activty where participants earn colored stickers and apply them to a large coded grid.  Once all the stickers are attached, a vibrant mosaic image is revealed! If we are able to fill all 4,000 squares, the Friends of Plumb Library will donate funds to the RMS Music Department for new classroom instruments, including ukeleles!  So, sign-up, participate and let's "stick together" to create a masterpiece, while helping RMS Music!

Color tiles are earned for activities completed and shared at Plumb ONLY.   There is no sharing via phone, email, or Facebook.

Color tiles will only be earned if actual activity tracker is shared.  If forgotten at home, a tile can still be earned for checking out library material, or doing a library activity that day.  But, no tiles will be provided by a verbal number only!

Stop in for Opening Week of the Libraries Rock Program and the StickTogether for Music Project!  Activities officially begin June 25th and end August 11th.  All ages welcome!

To be eligible for this community based program, all participants must be REGISTERED in Wandoo.  Wandoo is an web-based system, so registration can occur from any device, or within the Wandoo stations at Plumb.

RMS students may be pre-registered from school events.  These students need to pick up their CSLP logs started in school,  and then can apply sticker titles earned in school,

NEW for 2018:

Wandoo is required for registration only.   Families chose if they would like to use Wandoo to access challenges, the reading log, and the kids online reading game avatar.

Tracking and logging time spent reading is NOT a 2018 requirement. Our focus is completing activities to earn color tiles for our StickTogether Music Mosaic. If we complete the Mosaic, the Friends of Plumb Library will donate fumds to RMS Music!

To earn color sticker tiles for the Music Mosaic, registrants must complete library activities, attend library events, check out library materials, and log AT LEAST one  favorite summer book read  with a rating, into Wandoo.

All types of "fun" activity trackers will be available: CSLP sticker log (RMS students received), Notebooks, Summer Playlists, Calendars, Coloring Pages, Summer Challenge Lists and any other method families create for themselves.

Families MUST  visit the libraryto share their accomplishments with a librarian.  Families can set their own schedule to do this, but no more than once per week.

Libraries Rock-“Wild West: The Mystery of the Golden Piano”

Thanks to the Rochester Firefighters  Association, grab your spurs and journey with us to the Wild West, where a legendary bank-robbing outlaw is back in town, about to strike again! After the Sheriff mysteriously vanishes, two young kids must saddle up to foil the great heist — but not before stopping a runaway train, escaping an abandoned mine shaft and discovering how a mysterious piano can play an ‘instrumental’ part in putting a rotten cowboy back behind bars.

Throughout this absolutely wild adventure story, volunteers from the audience will help us explore the fascinating science behind chemical reactions, combustion, air pressure, inertia and more. Don’t miss this classic action-packed western with ‘notes’ of science! Our program content addresses Next Generation Science Standards PS1 & PS2.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Best for ages 4 and up.  Children younger than 4 must sit with adult.

This show will take place at the Rochester First Congregational Church
