Suffragettes in Corselettes: The Evolution of Underwear & Our 19th Amendment
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

For centuries, women have allowed themselves to be squeezed, twisted, and squished to conform to desired shapes. The history of underwear reveals a lot about women’s changing roles in society – how we perceive ourselves, and how we’re viewed by others. The 1910s saw an end to the hourglass figure with a tiny waist. Women were finally able to breathe and move more freely. Did the demise of tightlacing help women gain the right to vote in 1920? Underwear matters! Join mother-daughter duo, Velya Jancz-Urban and Ehris Urban for a funny and frank look at our foremothers’ journeys.

Dinner & Theater: HTC

Enjoy a wonderful meal in the company of friends at Stone Creek Inn followed by the Hampton Theatre Company’s production of Admissions. She and her husband, the school’s Headmaster, have largely succeeded in bringing a stodgy institution into the 21st century. But when their only son sets his sights on an Ivy League university, personal ambition collides with progressive values, with convulsive results. Fee: $70 includes 3-course dinner, tax, tip and theater ticket. Dinner: 5:00 p.m. at Stone Creek Inn, 405 Montauk Highway, East Quogue. Show: 7:00 p.m. at the Quogue Community Hall, 125 Jessup Avenue, Quogue. Reservations and payment required by January 16.
