The Pollinators is a cinematic journey around the United States following migratory beekeepers and their truckloads of honey bees as they pollinate the flowers that become the fruits, nuts and vegetables we all eat. The many challenges the beekeepers and their bees face en route reveal flaws to our simplified chemically dependent agriculture system. We talk to farmers, scientists, chefs and academics along the way to give a broad perspective about the threats to honey bees, what it means to our food security and how we can improve it.

With forewords by Boston Marathon race director Dave McGillivray and the first woman to complete the race - Roberta “Bobbi” Gibb - the book also features a wide range of vintage and race-day photos, some of which never before published.
A freelance journalist, photographer, and former newspaper editor, he delivers talks and lectures at libraries, historical societies, bookstores, running clubs; appears at expos, book signings, group meetings; appears on television (NECN, cable stations, etc.), radio (NPR, local and city stations, etc.), and media outlets including “The Boston Globe” and the “Cape Cod Times.” Race director of the Camy 5K Run & David 5K Walk in Walpole, he has competed in nearly every distance from the mile to the marathon - including two triathlons, 43 marathons, the Falmouth Road Race several times - and has won numerous age-group and Clydesdale running awards.

Dan and Marilyn Brielmann of e-Awakening, a website for 'The Preservation of Nature & the Protection of Resources' will share information about this wonderful 230 mile resource with 16 miles of trails in Andover. The idea for the Bay Circuit Trail & Greenway first arose in 1929. It would be an “outer Emerald Necklace,” proponents said—a greenbelt that would mirror the famous string of Frederick Law Olmsted-designed parks threading through urban Boston—and would provide open space for the metropolitan area’s quickly expanding population. Over the next several decades, various public and private parks and reservations were established in the area between what is now Route 128 and Interstate 495, but they failed to keep pace with commercial and residential development. In the 1980s, interest in the project was renewed, and in 1990 the Bay Circuit Alliance formed to make the trail and greenway a reality. In the fall of 2012, the Appalachian Mountain Club and The Trustees of Reservations, two of Massachusetts’ largest and oldest conservation organizations, began working together with the Bay Circuit Alliance in the completion, enhancement, and long-term protection of the recreational trail and greenway.
