Scarborough Teen Writers Group
3:30 PM - 5:30 PM

he Scarborough Teen Writers Group (STWG) for grades 6-12 is offered in collaboration with Portland Writers Group Maine (PWGM). Teen writers will have the chance to receive feedback on their work and comment on others’ writing. All genres are welcome, including fantasy, sci-fi, poetry, and nonfiction. Each workshop will include a short session about topics such as point of view, voice, characterization, and critiquing skills.

Minecraft Miner Day

With the help of our teen development team, the library has its own dedicated Minecraft server!  Moving forward, we'll have some surprises waiting for you and your friends to discover in our uniquely Maine Minecraft worlds. Watch for Minecraft Miner Days and other special events.

Don't have a Minecraft account?  No problem.  We'll provide you with one while at the library during one of our upcoming Miner Days. On these days we'll be serving up Minecraft at the library, and providing registration for remote access from home if you have your own Minecraft account.  Come have some fun, and maybe learn something too!  Note: Parents must remain in the Library if child is under 10 yrs. old.

If you’ve created your own Minecraft world, bring it along to show others on our big screen! Computers will be available, or you can bring your own laptop. No sign up is needed—just drop in! Please remember that children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tips for Decluttering Your Life

Decluttering is all the rage, but is it right for you? And if it is the right choice for you, how can you best tackle it? Janie Downey Maxwell loves sharing ideas on ways to get your life organized. Come with a list of questions and challenges and she’ll help you get on a road to success. Janie  derives great joy helping people and businesses solve organizational challenges. She came to Maine to work for L.L.Bean where she ran the business end of the Creative Department. She now runs programs for the public library in Cape Elizabeth, is the Executive Director of Freeport Players, and runs two web businesses. Her blog, Organizational Habits, is a place to share ideas, tools, and inspiration to help you get your life in order. Please bring paper and pen to take notes. This event is free to attend.
